Penton do we know which planes will be the focus this time around? I have a hard time believing with all the problems getting the F35 combat ready the navy would allow those planes to be used, The F14 I know is making some appearance as it was seen on a flight deck but all have been retired and had there instruments and guidance ripped from them. So I imagine were looking at F18 or F22 as being the main planes used for this film.

After a hard day, the ones hanging from the ceiling - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...e#post15774685

Seriously, other than what I’ve already reported on this and the other linked thread in the tech forum, I can’t talk anymore about that, but I will say that you exhibit good logic.

P.S. ^
Not only removal of classified avionics and all ordnance, but also as part of the demilitarization process, DOD guidelines I believe ordered removing the engine and mutilating the airframe of Tomcats (cut them up, wing hardpoints, etc.)……then afterwards, if someone desired, the pieces could then be welded back together in order to make the aircraft suitable for museums and such, but definitely not flyable.

There was actually an investigation regarding such a thing with Hollywood producer Don Bellisario (of JAG fame) back in ’07 -

Joseph Kosinski is using some “never before seen” technology and shooting the film in 6K.

The 6k was announced awhile ago. It’s being shot on the Sony Venice, same as Avatar 2 & 3.

Yeah I’m aware. I took a look at it at Cinegear.

Also side note, I just filmed at that motel set that’s in the short you just posted.

whereas in contradistinction to the Venice(s) mounted F/A-18F Super Hornet, even the fastest dedicated camera jets (see the last few pages of the HDR Discussion thread for pics) can’t do stabilized cinematography at over 300 - 400 mph

So does anyone know if it’s o.k. for individual naval aviators to have their helmets personalized with custom paint jobs and their call signs on them, or is this only a Hollywood thing?

Depends on your command. Call signs are often on helmets and on your jet (though that depends on if you're assigned a specific jet).
