I've been wanting to upgrade my speakers for some time now I'm down to ( PSB - T65's and C60 ) or ( KLIPSCH - RF-82's and RC-62.)
What is your guys opinion on these two. I know it's about what I hear and like but what about thinks like FREQUENCY,CROSSOVER, POWER, and OHM's and if you need to know room size is 12 x 20. Receiver is onkyo 706. |

It can in some cases. I find entry level systems like Onkyo + Klipsch, Polk, Monitor Audio Bronze/Silver, the lower PSB's etc to be very user friendly and don't require overloads of data to make a purchase decision. Buy what sounds good, plug it all in and enjoy. Now if he came here asking about Martin Logan Vistas or Sonus Fabers on an Onkyo, then we'd have something to discuss. |

In my opinion it's entry level. Even what I have I consider entry level.
A mid range system to me would be the new Marantz 8003 pre/pro and PSB Synchrony 5.1 or Monitor Audio Gold. An example of a high end system would be Monitor Audio Platinum or B&W 800 series running off of a thirty thousand dollar Simaudio pre/pro. |

What's some good songs to demo these speakers ? I'm leaning towards the PSB's but for one last time I'm going to demo them.
And is $1.300 Total a good price for the T65's and C60? Thanks Everyone. |

For $1300 you could get Paradigm Monitor 7's and a CC-290, IMO much better speaker than both you are looking at, never been a fan of Klipsch i hate the horn sound and PSB i find to bright. Just one more to consider if you haven't already.

Take some music you are familiar with, songs that you have listened to more than a few times. This should help you identify what you like and dislike about the sound more easily. |

I'd pass on Klipsch at your price range. I listened to Klipsch's in that price range (forgot the model). I think they sound muddy and are too bright in the highs. There's a reason why there are very few companies that have copied the horn tweeter.
I second the Paradigm combo if you don't listen to a lot of rock. If you shop around you could probably get a 5.0 set-up for $1300. I'd recommend auditioning 2.0 channels at your price range and build the rest down the road. Never heard PSBs so I won't comment on them. |

I'll look at the Paradigm Monitor 7's tomorrow too. Do you know a good web site to get some good prices on the Paradigm Monitor 7's and the center.
Thanks |

I recently auditioned the Klipsch refernce 82's vs the Paradigm monitor 9's and found the paradigms to offer an overall better sounding experince. The Klipsch sounded as if you were in the front row of a concert. Very in your face/bright and somewhat tiresome after listening to them for a while. The Paradigms were like listening to a concert from further back maybe the middle row.Not so much in your face, more laid back so to speak. I felt like I could listen to these speakers for a long period of time and not get tired of listening to them. An over all pleasant experience. The ironic part is that my intentions were focused on the Reference series and what to you know, Paradigm won me over. Hands down. |
