Default No Love For Heston

During the Oscar memorial when Heston came up. The applause was very quiet compared to Paul Newman's or Roy Scheider's.

Why? The guy was Moses and Ben-Hur. Yet Heath got more applause than that. Three times over, did I miss something?

I'm sure the hollywood "elite" didn't much care for him and his gun antics. Me personally, I thought he was frackin awesome!

Me too!

-Get your paws, off me you da**ed dirty ape!"

He and Newman were HUGE stars. Why the difference? They didn't keep Chuck on the screen too long. Compared to Newman. WTF

His personal and political views were different than most in Hollywood. And most Hollywood "elites" can't accept that anyone thinks different than them.

I noticed that too. I thought I'd heard somewhere that he wasn't well liked in Hollywood so when I heard very little applause, that made me think my suspicion was true.

I agree. And that is their loss. Charlton Heston was one of the greatest actors to ever be in films.

Yeah it said that people let their views get in away of a great actor. I thought Heston was awesome. He was in so many classic movies.

Totally agree. The Hollywierd elite love to preach inclusion, peace and love....except if it applies to anyone with opinions different than theirs. Heston was anti-Hollywierd, and was a bigger person than ANY of the past or current mouthpieces. RIP 'Taylor'. You were a true American patriot.

I noticed that too.

Maybe it's the young people out there... they don't remember the classics, they're too busy clamoring over themselves at the merest mention of Heath Ledger to understand that other folks have died this year.

Because the people there don't know that he also marched w/ MLK and think he was just a "gun guy".

He fought for Individual rights, regardless of whether the issue was popular or not.

Sean Penn can't hold his jock.

forget about the oscars, the hollywood elites even mocked his illness while he was sick, solely because his views differ from theirs. George Cluumsy lead the pack. these people are below the animals you find scouraging for garbage in a dump.

Definitely a low point for him. Haven't watched him in anything since.

On the flip side... Milk beat out Mickey Rourke's amazing performance in The Wrestler. A terrible injustice in my book. And Why? I'll let you figure it out. But here's a clue - the entire audience roared when Penn addressed the issue of Proposition 8 and I didn't see a single dissenter (someone not clapping) in the joint. Even Frank Langaella (sp?), who never clapped for anything else...
