Default Sony BDP-S300 static on BD playback?

I had posted this on theReview thread but no responses - anyone else have this problem or do I have a bum machine?:

I've had a Sony BDP-300S for a few weeks now - but have not had much of a chance to sit and watch it too much. So far have only watched two Blu-ray disk, Planet Earth (BBC) and 300. On both, there are times when I get a pulsing white static in the picture on both of these disks. For the Planet Earth Disc, I thought that this might have been part of the problems with the original filming of the disks as per the other threads on this forum. Just finished watching 300, and see the same thing in many scenes. Does anyone else have any idea what this may mean? I have the disc player hooked to my Samsung LNT4066F 40" LCD 1080i HDTV. This does not happen all of the time, but appears throughout during differernt scenes on both discs. Needless to say, I'm finding it a little annoying for my HD discs. Does not appear to happen when I play SD DVDs.

Thanks

I've noticed it on both, many have noticed it with PE, and one other person confirmed the presence of it on 300.

It is not the BDP-S300 it is the beloved bit-starved VC-1 encodings.

Most notable places your are probably seeing the pulsing artifacts:

PE- Freshwater scene (waterfall most prevelant)
300- Closeups of Leonidis' face.

I saw the exact same thing on my Sony watching 300. I returned the Sony the next day and purchased the Pioneer Elite BDP-94HD. Wow, what a difference. Truly a step above the 3 players I tried...Panasonc 10A, PS3 and the Sony 300.

I have had 0 problems watching any movies with the Elite. The picture is a lot better as well.

Exactly! Thanks - I was really thinking it was my player.

Maybe I will avoid BRD with VC-1 Encoding....

Thanks!

That's where I see it, and I think on 300 I also saw it near the end, the beginning of the scene where the Spartans (after the Arcadians had left) are asked to surrender.
