All the extras on Well Go's Phantasm box set. Being my favorite horror series, that is an awesome release. It took me some time to get through them all.

Yeah, The Furious Gods is awesome. As long as it is, I've actually re-watched it.
Generally, I like commentaries, usually informative ones that let me in on the process of making a film. But I also like entertaining ones, too. The commentary with NWR and Elle Fanning for The Neon Demon is hilarious. It's clear that not only did they have a really good time making the film, but that they really like each other and became good friends. I love the movie, but the commentary is practically just as good! ![]() |

I have several favorites, mainly from the Blade Runner set, but one of my recent favorites is the Scream Factory interview with Jamie Lee Curtis on The Fog blu-ray. Curtis is such a delight and brutally honest.

Sometimes, there are features I'm very interested on discs or in sets in which I'm not that overly interested. For example, the aforementioned Harry Potter multi-part documentary. I've wished in the past that companies would offer certain features, separate from whatever disc or set they came with, for a set price. There are definitely ones I would spend the money on just to get that feature.

My all-time favorite extra has been and will continue to be the Director's Cut. This includes "alternate" cuts that may not be necessarily endorsed or approved by the original director. Any alternate version of a film, even if it's not a favorite, is always welcome. I guess this comes from my deep love of the filmmaking process in general. The process is always fascinating; the behind-the-scenes stories are sometimes more enjoyable than the film itself
![]() I also love in-depth documentaries that feature lots of behind-the-scenes photos or, even better, footage. Anything by Laurent Bouzereau is top notch - even the shorter featurettes he created later. I don't know if he's still in the business or retired but he was the best. |

It's one of the most in depth documentaries I've seen outside of the LotR Extended Editions. The only disappointing thing about them is they're split up among the 8 movies on 8 different bonus discs, and most box sets don't include them.

I really wish Audience Reaction Tracks were more popular. The only ones that even come to mind are the tracks for Lethal Weapon 4 and Sin City.

Alternate cuts and audio mixes for sure. I love it when you get the option on certain titles from Arrow, Shout and others where they have included a modern 5.1 update on the audio along with the original audio track in lossless. Directord cuts, along with alternate versions included make the release more rewarding too

I really love any Horror’s Hallowed Grounds. Sean Clark is always entertaining but he balances it so well by also being so knowledgeable about the movies he is talking about.
I’ve grown to really appreciate commentary tracks, especially on older ( 1930s-1960s) movies. This one is pretty obvious, but Criterion almost always does amazing extras that you can spend several hours typically watching or listening to. They’re like the gold standard for special features. Scream also usually does a great job on their new extras. |
