There have been rumors but nothing concrete as far as I'm aware. Either way, SS is getting my money.

No, the Japanese release is based off of a master that predates the Italian 4K release and the new French release.

I'm not region free nor have I upgraded to 4K UHD, so I'm still praying for a Region A Blu to finally be announced soon...

They're doing a new restoration, so that likely won't be the case.

I own the OOP blu-ray and will be ordering the UHD, but it’s unacceptable that this movie is unavailable in any format in the US.

Plus UHD is a region-free format, something people keep forgetting. There really is no excuse NOT to own this. I just hope Second Sight isn't limiting this set to a specific amount. This is going to break all kinds of sales records worldwide so I plan on getting my preorder in as soon as it goes live.

I have the Italian UHD set and thought the Argento cut looked quite good on the 4K disc, but then again the bar for improvement was quite low to begin with.

Does the Italian house the same master that was utilized on the French release that has the botched framing? I’m so confused at this point.

With all the rumors of a new US release, I keep wondering if I should sell my 2007 OOP copy now while I can still get a good amount for it.
