4K digital restoration but no 4K UHD release? I'll wait.

They're a boutique. 4k UHD is not an option not even Criterion are considering it

A lot of times, most 4K restorations are for "safeproofing" or archival purposes more than anything so there won't be a need to do another remaster (at least in the long term).

I watched this with by Grandad when I was a kid, loved it then and still love it now. Such a wonderfully tense film and one i've been meaning to grab at various points over the last year or so. I came very close to pulling the trigger on the Olive and domestic German releases but i'm glad I held off.

I do love how this package is shaping up

Yeah, the "[4K]" in the thread title is rather misleading. I thought for a second I'd missed some major news.

Unless it's MGM, I don't see most major studios including UHD rights to boutique labels. Not to mention, I don't imagine Eureka jumping into the UHD game anytime soon (or at all).

Which is precisely why I said "major news". A catalog 4K isn't major at all, they happen all the time. One coming from Eureka would be a huge deal.

Ehh, have Eureka ever released a UHD before? I imagine this one's fairly self explanatory.

There was a time when nobody had released a UHD before. Yeah, I wondered how the hell that news had slipped past me in the Eureka thread but sometimes that happens. Anyone who doesn't follow Eureka as a label is in an even worse position to interpret it.

All the '[4K]' is signifying is that it's not from the old master(s) seen here - and indeed the newer restoration Olive released under their Signature Edition. I can see why it might throw you for a loop - but it's not a big deal.
