It was all just a murky gray, and I couldn't even make out what she walked into that made a loud clang.

I'm guessing the 2.0 track is the commentary?

It’s possible your theater’s bulb was just dim; I had the opposite experience in the theater. I will never forget that moment because my friend let out a BLOODCURDLING SHRIEK when Rose accidentally bumped into the trash can. The French disc has that scene clear as day with inky blacks too.
