It would be cool, but Lionsgate controls Phantoms at this point.

One of the big ones for me in that same realm would be Wolf Creek, which also never saw a blu release.
The Miramax library may be for sale once again...

Here’s a potentially huge story that’s been flying under the radar. Last week, Variety wrote that Qatar-based beIN Media Group is seeking to sell up to 50% of Miramax in a deal that would value the studio founded in 1979 by Bob and Harvey Weinstein at $650 million; currently, beIN owns the company in its entirety. The story comes straight from a Wall Street Journal report.

This is important for horror fans as Miramax is one of the main rights holders of the Halloween franchise, which occurred after it was exiled from the firm grasp of the Weinstein Company’s Dimension Films three years ago (report). Had this not happened, it’s quite possible that the franchise would still be tied up in the reshuffling of Dimension and Lantern’s acquisition of The Weinstein Company.

Very interesting...too bad so many great movies are locked up in that entire mess. Hopefully it gets sorted out one day.

Just ordered Monolith Monsters. Love that one.

Almost all the movies in the Classic Sci-Fi Ultimate Collections are on blu.

Have these been announced?

-The Incredible Shrinking Man
-Cult of the Cobra
-The Land Unknown
-Dr. Cyclops

Really hoping Shrinking Man and Dr. Cyclops are next.

The Land Unknown has already been released by Kino (back in April), and Dr Cyclops will be released by them in future.

You betcha. It's not on the level of the Dean Koontz source novel, but it's a good bit of fun.

I love how Rose McGowan looks in this movie.

A BUNCH of newer Scream/Shout! titles are now available to order from Target, including pre-orders for select upcoming titles.

I guess that nearly year long stand-off has come to an end.

Thank goodness. Scream should focus on releasing movies and not throttling retailers.

It seems to me that now Scream Factory is allowing stores to discount their MSRP, more and more are coming back to selling their releases. Thankfully, it seems like the year+ long experiment of forcing full MSRP is finally coming to a close!

I hope that Scream Factory, lost a lot of $, and learned their lesson.
Greed is not always good. I can now go back and start buying their shit again, on a regular basis, once the MSRP bullshit comes to an end.

I’ve been regularly buying SF titles and haven’t paid anywhere near MSRP.
Usually right around $20 a pop. Mainly from Amazon. A few from BB, FYE and a SF sale or two.

This happened with Best Buy like two months ago and then everything I pre ordered wound up getting cancelled.

I would act fast just in case. Best Buy added the July titles in May at the old discount prices and we thought the stand-off had ended - only for them to cancel everyone's order later and remove the titles from their site.

edit: ^that

Doesn't Arrow have The Incredible Shrinking Man? I think they released that one in the UK not long before they made a deal with Universal for US releases, so I always kind of assumed Arrow would eventually release here too. Unless another studio beat them to it.

This is good advice. I'd check Wal-Mart and Best Buy as well. If they don't have listings for the titles then I would brace yourself for cancellations on your orders from Target as well.

On the plus side, maybe Amazon will price match. My July titles are still $19.99 each since I pre-ordered while Best Buy had them up.

They definitely started playing hardball on prices, I remember when their Collectors editions routinely went on sale for $15 or so. Then after a certain point it seemed like they never go under $20 anymore, and of course with their more recent experiment it seems like they actually were trying to push $30+.

That being said, for the most part you can get them around $20 regardless of MSRP - but they were definitely playing games.

Luckily, I was able to clean house on the recent B&N sale, + a couple of other sales before that. I paid $20 or less, on all of the Shout titles that I wanted. Night of The Creeps will be mine, once I can get it for $20 or less.
