First time ever checking a Dollar Tree for Blu's yesterday. I had to dig through a bunch of random DVDs to find the only two they had: Bring It On: Worldwide #Cheersmack and Hail, Cesar!

I bought the latter.

Exclamation another bad disc

Title: Underground (City Lights) 2007
ISBN: 897246001010

Issue: disc will not play anything after Ch 16

City Lights - again!!! I think from here on, I shall instantly reject all City Lights titles from DT selections.

My opinion (up to Round 3): 2/10 Pointless, no reason to ever watch; it's saved from 1/10 only because there is simplistic plot and there is a narrative that works, but a utter belly-flopper of pure mediocrity.

Sorry to bring bad news, but these three Dollar Tree DVDs are from the same company as The Ten, according to this site.

Has anybody watched these? Did they play?

I remember some people talking about finding them.

Here's the full list

I had no problems watching “Harold”. I got the other two DVDs too. I’ll test them when I’m home.

The Year My Parents... played fine when I watched it. Not a half bad flick, either.

Year My Parents and Manda Bala both played fine (which puts me at 50% - which is still a bit problematic). Harold has just turned up and both copies were loose disc, so I skipped buying it.

Year My Parents 7/10 - I would recommend to those who enjoy a snap shot (almost day in the life type) movie - it's not action or high drama and subtitled. It's an odd movie to say who would really be a big fan or why it would be rewatchable.

Manda Bala - is a very dated documentary piece and about political corruption - this is perhaps a question that only our Brazilian friends can answer, but does this work have any relevancy for today? I tend to think no and therefore is a 5/10.

Watched: The Adventurer blu today (91366)

Kinda 'meh', 4/10. It seemed like they were aiming for a kid movie, but didn't know how to do it. Some scenes were oddly over emphasized, while others were glossed over. Over-all it wasn't bad, but really no reason to what it ever again.

Sam Neill was involved too, and made a good villain. Was interested to see that Ioan Gruffudd was in it, but it turned out to be maybe 5 minutes total... <sigh> He just doesn't have the best luck getting into good films.

Did the store put them out weeks late? The stores around me run out of Blu-rays in a day or two and run out of DVDs in a week.

No idea when they put them out...
As I said, it's a huge DT that used to be a Deal$ and they usually have some stuff that 'average' DTs don't have...
Went to another DT that was a few miles away from this one and they had 0 BluRays so go figur'...

These Dollar Tree Blu rays feel like such a waste of money and time. IMO there is a reason they are at dollar tree. I just can not grasp why people flock to this in droves. Are you just in in for quantity..to say oooh look at me I own 1000 blu rays. Like who cares they are D rated garbage that nobody wants....I just do not get it

There are some good movies in them... One mans garbage is another mans treasure.

But the collecting thing is a sickness for sure. Just dont think your going to go find the movie you want by stopping in. You will need to hit 3-5 locations minimum and thats if you get lucky. Gas wise its a loser deal if your hunting for one title. Just buy it online for more and save.

It's $1!

It's less than the price of a rental PLUS you don't have to take them back!

If you do like them they can go into your collection.

If you don't like them you can sell or trade them to others (everybody has different taste).
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...lar+tree+trade

If nobody wants them you have a nice case you didn't have to bulk buy a couple hundred of (plus shipping) just to get one.

Here's a list of all the Blu-Rays that were found just in June of this year:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=9870

Just curious, did you actually pay full price for all these $1 Dollar Tree Movies?

[Show spoiler]Another Stakeout
Big Business
Disorganized Crime
Gross Anatomy
The Gun In Betty Lou's Handbag
Holy Matrimony
The Innkeepers
Last Dance
The Lazarus Effect
Tha Marrying Man
Masterminds
Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates
Money For Nothing
My Father The Hero
Scenes From A Mall
Sex Tape
Speed
Straight Talk
The Ties That Bind
V.I. Warshawski
Year One

It looks like you got most of the ones from the first wave. Lucky you!
Since you think they are D rated garbage that nobody wants, I'll take some of them off of your hands for $1 each.

My very short defense of DT physical media and naturally these are for my needs so ymmv (new thoughts)

DT exposes me to titles I wouldn't normally considered; thankfully they shown me:

--- Magnolia does have titles that I'm interested in

--- Non US cartoon releases - specially Shout Kids which I also mine for their cases

--- anime: for myself, trade, and it almost always well worth the $1 if your ever going to resell.

--- tri- and quad- bd cases - I don't really have a need to order a large amount from a supplier

--- a-z titles that I just haven't added before. exp: Robo Cop etc

--- I'm not in an area that there is a lot of used physical media available and used is mostly ebay etc; so a $1 for a new disc/set is Krazy!!!!!! priced.

--- Some I give as gifts, trade, or donate to the local housing for the disabled and the veteran's home

--- helps the Blu community -- trade, sell, report our experiences and are frustrations too and occasionally it results in karma

Plus in a DT thread, it would be odd to find a lot of hate and out right nope-ing.

Hey, look, another person thinking he’s cool because he’s *****ing about not having interest in participating in other people’s hobby.

If you’re a cinema fiend, these movies are great additions to collections. I’ve kept way more than I’ve gotten rid of.
