Because enthusiastic voice acting would only emphasize the lifeless facial animation even more.

Lion King 2019 was very good. 8/10. The original, 10/10.

The animals looked and moved realistically; it was very impressive. So impressive that it reminds me of a documentary at times but with dramatic camera angles.

Timon and Pumba were the best characters in the film, then Simba and Mufasa. They messed up the Be Prepared Song by Scar, by making it way too short and lackluster. The original was the highlight of the film. Timon had a solid singing voice to my surprise. Favorite song was the Awee-ma-way In the Jungle song.

They downgraded the Be Prepared song by 80%. Disappointing.

Favorite characters:
Simba cub and full grown
Timon and Pumba
Scar
Mufasa

Had I not seen this story before, it would be a really nice surprise of a film. The lack of expressions on the animals surprisingly did not bother me at all, being a big fan of documentaries like Nature.

The bird was decent, but sometimes too monotone. The original was much more expressive with its voice in song and talking.

Can You feel the Love Tonight made no sense since it took place during the daylight. What the hell?

For a direct remake instead of a reboot, Lion King delivered for the most part despite some flaws. If one wants to see this in as realistic a style as possible, this fills that request. Otherwise, the original is still an extremely valid film even if it's about 25 years old. 1994 to 2019.

there are so many versions of cinderella I don't see why there can't be more than one lion king out there the cartoon version and the realistic version. I would be open to a lion king remake in the style of Frozen and Tangled also.

I loved the added shot of baby Simba looking back at his parents while he was being carried by Rafiki.

The scene where Rafiki the Chimpanzee hits Simba on the head to teach him a lesson that what's in the past is in the past, was omitted from this film. It was definitely an important lesson to persuade Simba to join Nala and return home, no longer ashamed of his past. I'm not sure why they left that out of this remake. Much like they shortchanged the entire Be Prepared song with Scar. Maybe they didn't feel they could match the brilliance of that song in the original.

Absolutely, I have no problems with remakes. It just has to be good.

My family doesn't believe in purchasing advance tickets.

We get to the box office and select a showtime for the next available showing.

Imagine my frustration seeing only handicapped seating available. With the next three shows being 95% of seats already sold.

Gee, thanks...should've pre-purchased your tickets

When I told my dad that we'd have to pay the $1.50 convenience fee to buy tickets in advance online, he said don't even bother because it is a waste of money. I was like.. $1.50? I could see if we were talking $5 bucks here but that's pocket change.

Yeah, they hate Fandango too.

I honestly want to know who on here doesn't pre-purchase their tickets and just shows up at the box office the day of a new release?

The only time I don't buy tickets online is for discount day, I've never had to, even on the Tuesday after release.

I don’t remember the last time I bought tickets at the box office, maybe 10 years ago.

They don’t even have box office anymore, just self service machines.

Since I've had A-list and my nearest AMC is all reserved seating, yes, but before that I would just show up at the box office and skip the online fee. If I ever drop A-list I'll go back to doing that.

Just as I predicted a few pages back, that the sabotagers on imdb would not have it their way. Lion King is now sitting pretty at imdb to a 7.1,I will also predict that by late Sunday night it will climb to a 7.2 at the very least. Come on everyone admit it,no way was this movie worth a 5.1 that the sabotagers had a week ago on imdb, that was uncalled for. Saw the movie on Thursday, while its not as good as the original which is a classic and a 10/10, this was a great effort and deserving of a 7.5 at the very least,if not an 8. That 5.1 is just screwing around with the movie, what do you think this is the haunting of Sharon tate?

That almost happened to me for this film, but thankfully there were a few seats left.

Me! I don't even pre-order tickets for Star Wars, but manage to find a time of many show times when there are still plenty of seats if I get there 15 to 30 minutes early.

There will be people who see this who will give it a 1/10 for whatever logic they feel it only deserves a 1. For me to give a movie that low of a rating, it would have to be one of the worst films I had ever seen, but Lion King's story, detached from any prior viewings, is a quality story and it was presented well enough in this remake film.
I'll put in my 8/10 vote as well for the 2019 Lion King. It actually met my expectations and was entertaining for the most part. I love the look of the film, but still prefer the 10/10 animated original.
