But why does this show so many signs of it?... It's not supposed to be there because it's digital noise, and that means messy remnants from scans or not so great sensors the film was scanned with or whatever.
I suppose it might not be noticeable in motion, just like film-noise "disappears" in motion, but this isn't "5 star quality". - I guess it won't get any better, but it sure doesn't look as good/clean as some other even older films I've seen up close. 'The Matrix' looks like it has gone through a system a few times...
Was that with HDR10 or DV? I didn't notice anything wrong but I haven't tested DV yet. Also, discussing tech issues with releases requires mentioning the setup used as different hardware creates different user experience.

Batshit crazy.... Tee hee.

Finally watched this last night. Darkened room as always. HDR10 on my Panny player. No tinkering with any HDR dynamic settings.

This disc gives me that warm fuzzy feeling of having a print screened in my own home. We are not quite in Sony territory here regarding the grain, which is neither a good or a bad thing - It's not quite as rough but it's there and looks effin' great. Contrast is great, as is the overall use of HDR. The disc is dark when it needs to be dark and bright when it needs to be bright (And wow some highlights are very very bright even on my midrange nit TV) and overall blows away the old releases, different colour timing and all.

Highly recommended disc to show those HDR naysayers regarding movies shot on actual film.

Continues to rank very near the top of most exhilarating experiences in my home theater. Do try to check this one out on a well sorted front projection home theater. Trust me. It is life affirming.

Hey guys, does anybody know if there's an issue with the audio on the first matrix? I try several movies on my setup and this one always gets a delay on the audio which drives me mad!.. only way I can get no sync issue is if I choose PCM on my TV but then I get no surround sound.... it seems to only come in stereo from the front speakers..... could it be an issue with my disc? I'm using an xbox one s as player, Samsung QLED q7fn 55" 2018 model and a Yamaha RX-V675

Watched this last night, first time I've seen since I watched the DVD about 12-13 years ago. Was impressed by how the story held up and also the PQ, however, the disc froze right at the end of the last scene. It's a new disc and I guess it just needed a wipe in hindsight after researching into this. However, I've got a load of 4k discs coming from cex and zoom - just started upgrading after buying the 4k tv & player this month. So I'll have to check all of these on arrival to make sure all work fine, esp the WB titles.

I had this same issue last night! First time playing the disc (I've ripped it before without a problem, but needed to see it again with that sweet Dolby Vision).
So the disc stopping near the end is a common issue??

Anyone else expecting the Matrix steelbook from Zavvi this morning receive the Matrix Reloaded one instead?

Pre-ordered the three steelbooks so will likely re-order the first and hope they don't make the same mistake again.

Question

I want to be sure of certain things about the remastered 1080p Blu-ray of THE MATRIX. Is grain filmic and organic? Is the color in the film just right? Finally, does the 1080p Blu-ray’s audio sound phenomenal? I don’t mean to annoy anyone with the questions; it’s just that I like this sci-fi classic, and I want to make sure the standard remastered Blu-ray disc is worth it.

The remastered Blu-ray is extremely blown out and timed strangely. From what people have said, it's pretty bad. The 4K disc is excellent though, do you have a 4K HDR TV and UHD player?

Yes, I have an UHD TV (I don't know if it's HDR), and what do you mean by "extremely blown out" and "timed strangely"?

The contrast is extremely high, and the green look of the Matrix is extreme, like it's neon green.

It can’t be all that bad; I mean, Michael Reuben, who reviewed the UHD and 1080p, gave both presentations perfect scores.

It's up to you. I don't trust that score as the screenshots look pretty bad to me.

The new BD looks pretty bad in motion too.

Hmmmm got the Matrix 4K Blu-ray box set with all 3 movies since I am watching on Xbox One X which only plays 4K Blu-Rays in HDR10 sadly not Dolby Vision it looked pretty good not great.

The Matrix picture quality feels dated on 4K there are moments the colors felt flat and really heavy on the neon green colors. As for Dolby Atmos is amazing no issue with audio.

The Matrix: Reloaded both picture and audio quality are good no complains but as the movie it self it is hard to enjoy it for the length it is until a hour in to get some Matrix action.

The Matrix: Revolution next to view.

I guess it all depends for me the contrast on the Matrix needs a little uptick. Either way it is worth the purchase no regrets.

I watched this on the big screen recently (for the first time in about 15 years) and holy shit, why had I waited so long to revisit it? It's so up my alley. Makes me wanna re-watch the sequels.

You have something going on with your settings then. The Matrix looks close to flawless on my equipment.
