Yeah, the version of the first film in the "Attack Pack" lacks the DNR that's present on the standalone Blu-ray.

If they ever do announce a new Blu-ray (or even better a box set), then I'll happily upgrade again.
If you have Starz and want to save yourself a bit of money, they have the first 4 streaming in HD right or on Demand. I watched the first two last weekend to scratch my itch, so I could wait another year or two for a better blu-ray to become available. I'm shocked that this hasn't been picked up by Shout! at this point...

So, between Shout and Kino I would imagine any major genre film Paramount owns is being sought after, but some are still being held back by Paramount. KL Insider also stated they would be less interested in older comedies and dramas simply they don't sell as well, so it could be up to Criterion or Shout Select for some of those. However, he did mention that a major drama title like Ordinary People would be something Kino would still look to license.

As far as the Scream Factory label is concerned, I gotta think several no-brainers are on the horizon, such as The Dead Zone.

That is pretty disappointing about the lack of a new transfer for The Fly. I never had issues with it, but a newer transfer would've been welcomed.

Any one have any other takes on this phrase? I'm having a hard time connecting it to anything in regards to April Fools Day or Tales from the Darkside the Movie. The Terminator seems plausible as well, though that would be INCREDIBLY disappointing If that was what the hint was for.
I could be wrong, but I just figured they were saying to prepare yourselves for what they've got coming.

Like the Elm Street franchise, I'd be down for a big deluxe box set of all the Friday the 13th films, even though I'm not really expecting it (like Elm Street, I just see it as too "big", although unlike Elm Street, Paramount HAS licensed it out before).

A few other notes re: the Shock Waves appearance.

Undersellers:

The Body Snatcher

The Manitou

Vice Squad

The Seduction

The Green Inferno

Strays

Note: Jeff Nelson admits that they cannibalize themselves to some extent, given their heavy release schedules.

Strong sellers:

Valentine

Candyman

Critters

Creepshow

Halloween II Steelbook

Halloween III Steelbook

The Thing Steelbook

Quatermass II

Quatermass and the Pit

The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires

Universal Horror Collection: Volume 1

Universal Horror Collection: Volume 2

The Omen

The Blob

Given Cliff's joke near the end that The Keep might be their 1000th release (7 years in and not yet at 500), I think it's still safe to assume that it is not part of their current Paramount deal.

Aside from a few brief mentions on The Slumber Party Massacre Steelbook / Doll, there didn't seem to be any discussion about the Corman catalog titles.

Anybody else notice that the Scream Factory episode featured ads for...
[Show spoiler]Vinegar Syndrome
.

The Manitou has been one of the more enjoyable Scream Factory releases as of late for me. It's fun and bizarre in a way that only a film from the 70's can be. I definitely recommend picking that one up for folks looking for something off the beaten path.

I'm a bit surprised to see VICE SQUAD listed as an "underseller".... it hasn't even been friggin' released yet!

Good point. I remember Scream Factory doing this same thing several times over the last few years. Complain about sales on titles that are still in the pre-order stage and then months (a year?) later talk about what a great seller the title is. It's absolutely bizarre to me that so much stock is placed in pre-orders from a company that consistently cranks out 5-10 films each and every month. I would love to own every single release in Scream Factory's catalog (and I already own quite a few) but it's simply not possible to keep up with their release pace if you buy anything else from other labels.

Happy to see Universal sets doing well even #2 which doesn't have any of the major titles. I can only hope this convinces them to do all of them even the ones they have seemed to skip for now. Maybe even more Universal owned Paramount titles like Monster and the Girl.

A lot of those titles are still in the preorder phase, but the actual quote re: Vice Squad comes off more as mild disappointment, than "bucketlist":

2:49:03 "We're looking at the preorders of Vice Squad right now. We hope that that ticks up a little bit, it comes out in a couple weeks. I mean, I did think that it would come in a little stronger..."

This was also shortly before the "cannibalize ourselves" comment.

Thumbs up

I'm watching the Humanoids from the Deep steelbook and this transfer looks amazing, especially the vibrant colors. Great job Scream!

The Body Snatcher, one of the stronger Val Lewton horror films is an underseller? Damn, that and the Isle of the Dead cancellation make me really nervous.

Really happy to hear that both the Universal Horror Collections and some of the recent Hammer horrors have been strong sellers. That bodes well for future releases.

Glad to see Superstition wasn't among the disappointing sellers listed but surprised to learn The Manitou isn't selling well. I think if that title ever goes on sale it'll shoot up in rank. Maybe it's just that folks aren't willing to throw down $25-30 on it. Or maybe the title is throwing some people off and they think it's a movie about a manatee that's having a bad day

Universal Horror Collection: Volume 2 = strong seller
The Body Snatcher = underseller

I can only figure that people are blind buying because no self-respecting horror fan can be without The Body Snatcher in their collection, while Universal Vol 2 is mostly a dud. Crazy the things that sell well on blu-ray.

Not surprised by the list of top sellers, considering several were top wants and Blu-ray debuts (either stateside or globally). Collectors also love their steel books, especially when the included discs are upgraded (4K) scans and not just the same recycled disc.

Where did you hear the Fly is not getting a new transfer? EDIT: Never mind, found the info. Well this sucks, will probably just stick with my import Fly collection.

Is the Assault on Precinct 13 Steelbook disc identical to the regular collector's edition, or is there a new scan or new features?

- Still a lot of Hammer films to come (they could have announced more at SDCC, as we suspected). Pretty coy when Rasputin came up.

- Big Trouble in Little China will be a 2-disc release (not sure if this was known already). 12 confirmed people doing interviews, and not yet done.

- New interview with Michael Biehn on The Fan

- Fox won't allow new transfer on The Fly (Cronenberg). Two studios who Cliff won't name (Sony and Fox) that won't allow them to make new transfers.

- 'Tried' to get Sam Neill for The Omen, but a lot of new interviews nonetheless

- 'We know what fans want' with regard to My Bloody Valentine. 2 cuts, 2 discs. They're going to 'do their best' to present the uncut version as best as possible, citing their work on Silent Night Deadly Night by way of comparison. Working with George Mihalka.

- A very helpful person who recently got a job at Paramount and was a fan of Scream Factory was crucial to the breakthrough (I guess this explains why they got their foot in the door ahead of other labels)

- Mary Lambert involved with Pet Sematary 2. Wasn't always going to be a CE until that point.

- Interviews with Talia Shire and Robert Foxworth on Prophecy

- Bringing over previous extras for Road Games and Silver Bullet (I'm not sure if they were referring to the Umbrella editions here, I think they were). New interview with Stacy Keach.

- There's going to be more Universal collections (no surprise). One film that 'stands apart' (surely Murders in the Rue Morgue). That one will probably get a single release. Cliff mentions they're now going chronologically with the Universal Horror collections. Not sure what this means for the other 30s ones they haven't done?

- They do have more Paramount titles to announce. 'Steel yourself for 2020, there's some really good things'.

- All of November's titles have been revealed. There might be one or two surprises in December, but they're not from the Paramount deal. Next time they announce something big will likely be Halloween (so I imagine more Paramount titles). This would potentially be for February or beyond.

- They don't have Blue Steel

- A John Carpenter box set would not be a 'half-assed' effort. Talked about. Didn't rule it out, but didn't sound especially hopeful.

- Can't get into Lionsgate still.

- Likely will not have a path to Fright Night Part 2 or Dawn of the Dead. Also mentions Blood Beach as a title with complex rights issues (suggests Cliff might have an idea though).

- There was a particular title Jeff would have loved to announce at SDCC but they just couldn't conclude the deal in time. (I'm thinking this was Alligator - maybe this could be one of the Halloween announcements?)

- The Blob will be a very stacked release

Based on the "sheer amount of time and money" that was put into the restoration. Cliff MacMillan states they spent 100 hours on the restoration.
