I’m really enjoying watching these Scream monster 1950s movies for the first time. While I enjoyed Mole People, I felt the actual Mole People should have been in the movie a lot more than they were.

I haven’t watched the MST3K episode for Deadly Mantis yet. But it’s on my to-watch list soon.

Is it especially good? Funny? Hope so!

Did you pick up This Island Earth? I highly recommend it if you're into classic monsters! Beautiful transfer, some still incredible effects, and the awesome Metaluna Mutant.

Yes, I did pick up This Island Earth. It was just about a week ago.

You’re right on... terrific movie! As you said, the transfer really is beautiful. I couldn’t believe all the extras, too.

These Scream 1950s sci-fi releases are really hitting it out of the park,

I am curious to see This Island Earth, but don't know if I can take it seriously after growing up with the riffed and edited version in the MST3K movie.

I was the same way. I hadn't seen the original version until sometime before the MST3K movie came out. But watching it again on DVD earlier this year (I rented it from Netflix so my brother could see the original) and now the new Blu-ray, I was able to separate the two and still enjoy the movie on its own. It was great to re-discover all the stuff that had been edited out of the MST3K version. I'd forgotten, for example, that upon arriving on Metaluna the ship actually descends beneath the surface and that there is an explanation for why Ruth appears evasive like she doesn't know Cal.

That's the problem I have with Carnival of Souls. Everyone talks about it over in the Criterion thread and I just can't take it seriously after seeing Rifftrax

Off topic, can I ask what your avatar is from? It seems familiar for some reason but I can't pin point it...

It is the mysterious Donna Locke as Paula, the teenage horror-loving filmmaker and supernatural detective in...

Note that she is wearing a USCSS Nostromo hat from Alien.

Have most all of the Shout lithos / posters been 18x24"/ 24/18"?

I have a giant pile of them still in tubes, I want to get some frames and hang some of the horror titles up as Halloween decorations.

I guess I should pull them out of the freaking tubes first and make sure they're not damaged before I buy frames.

The normal posters have been pretty consistently 18" x 24" but as for the Lithographs? Good luck! They have the most random, bonkers sizes I've ever seen. There isn't a standard frame that exists for their lithos. It took me years to find a frame for my Halloween Complete Series litho. I'm at a loss on Creepshow. It's a weird size that you can find frames that are like 1/2" too short on 1 dimension and 2" too long on the other. I can't remember. Custom frames are wicked expensive, though. So it will just sit rolled in a tube forever.....

Thanks for the feedback, I'm going to have to unroll some and measure them. Pretty sure the 3 I'd like to hang the most were all lithos:

The Fog (steelbook art)
Halloween 2 (steelbook art)
Halloween 3 (steelbook art)

I never bought any of the steelbooks, so not sure on the size of those. I hope they're all a normal standard size! It'll sure save you a lot of hassle.

I need to grab that Blu Ray . I've only seen the horrendous transfer that's on Prime Video.

Heads up for those interested - FYE has THE THING Steelbook for $24.99. Despite numerous tools selling it for $50 and upwards on eBay as “OOP,” you can still get it direct from SF’s site too. Even Amazon has is it listed for $45.

Huge props for the Neon Maniacs love. One of my favorite 80's horror movies.

I’m curious about the reports regarding SF’s acquisition of Corman’s New Horizon catalogue. It was stated they bought the rights to 270 titles. I’m sure the titles themselves would’ve been listed in the legal documents. Anyone have a way of digging those up?

Thanks. I wonder why a release if SORORITY HOUSE MASSACRE 2/HARD TO DIE wasn’t a first order release. I know the initial announcement was a hoax. Maybe they’re waiting for the license on the first film to expire with Scorpion so they can do all three? Also hoping SPM 2/3 get rereleases if the steelbook of the first does well. I love that shared universe of nonsense.
