Over on CFHB Tom Weaver has hinted that someone has licenced titles from Sam Arkoff's AIP library for Blu-ray releases. The Kino Insider has just confirmed that it's not them (which was my initial suspicion), and Weaver had done quite a bit of work for Scream, so it's tempting to assume that they're the company in question. I suppose it could be one or two other labels (Arrow, maybe Severin), but perhaps the recent 50s titles have done well for Scream so they're looking to secure the Arkoff titles too.

There's some Arkoff that I'd love to see on blu, especially The Giant Claw and Zombies of Mora Tau. They'd be a good fit for Scream.

Both of those titles are with Sony rather than part of the Arkoff AIP library. That's not to say Sony couldn't release those Sony titles of course, I imagine they could quite easily acquire them if they so wished, providing Mill Creek haven't thrown a spanner in the works (how about a Blu-ray upgrade of the Sam Katzman set Scream?)

I wonder if someone finally succeeded in talking Susan Hart into licensing out the 11 AIP films that she holds the rights to.

Shout! Factory already had licensed several of the Arkoff AIP titles for the MST3K DVD's, so the likelihood of any other company doing them is pretty small, IMO. They also got The Final Terror and Hellhole from the Arkoff estate.

Road Games, The Abominable Snowman and Dracula are now up for pre-order at Deep Discount. Still waiting for Bull Moose to put them up.

A user in the April Fool's Day said that they've heard from a reliable source that Scream is releasing this film next year. I hope it's true and that it's a CE with lots of good special features!

Naturally, I just picked up the April Fool's Day DVD two weeks ago. Though after watching it, I'm not sure I need to upgrade. Maybe if it had an interview with Deborah Foreman.

I waver back and forth on the ending of April Fool's Day (sometimes I hate it, sometimes I'm fine with it), but the combination of Amy Steel and Deborah Foreman definitely keeps me coming back to it. I'd love a Blu-ray.

Just to be clear... a user with 50 posts since 2014 claimed in the wish list forum to have a "reliable source" that Shout was releasing this in April.

We've heard similar claims by folks in the past as well (remember the supposed leaked list of Sony titles?). Saying the title is coming in April 2020 is a very safe/easy prediction to make with nothing else to go on other than that a Paramount deal is in place. As we learned with the Warner Deal, sometimes the obvious titles fail to materialize. So I would not assume that Shout have this just yet.

I'd also add that if the goal is to capitalize on the April 1st date, that releasing the title in March 2020 would make more sense (Particularly the last 2 weeks of March) so folks can enjoy the film on April Fools day.

Amy Steel was great in April Fool's Day and Friday the 13th Part 2, I've always wondered why she never had a bigger career in films? She was one of the best final girls, very relatable, sardonic and smart.
If the SF rumor is true, they better have all the deleted scenes or a second disc that includes the original third act!!!

To be honest, based on it being a notable Paramount title I think we could all hazard a guess that Scream will put out April Fool's Day in late March 2020 (similar to what TripleHBK was suggesting, the first Tuesday in April is the 7th, which would be too late), and I suspect we'd end up being right. It's hardly going out on a limb.

If they have it, it may end up being announced around Halloween, though it should be that Scream only reveals February's full slate around then, so the announcement might come about a month later, assuming March's line-up is revealed in very late November/early December.

I've learned never to assume anything when it comes to deals with formerly reluctant studios and I certainly won't start making that mistake about Paramount. For the moment, I'm only "assuming" it's a limited deal for a small number of titles. Maybe it's Paramount testing the waters - with assistance from that new employee at the studio who pushed the deal. It's obvious that Shout's deal with Warner was short-lived and now it's anyone's guess if there will be further titles forthcoming. BTW, does anyone know if there are actually ANY Warner titles left from that original still forthcoming or have they all been released?

If rumours are to be believed, it looks like there are at least two Hammer titles (Curse of Frankenstein and Crescendo) which will be coming from Scream as part of the Warner deal. Also, it seems reasonable to surmise that they may not be done with Val Lewton. In these cases, there are logical reasons for why these releases are seemingly taking so long (the restoration process for Frankenstein, the fact that they already have many Hammers on the go and can't release them all at once, the staggering of the Lewton releases and the recent snag with Isle of the Dead). But beyond these, I can't see why anything else would take so long. But it was a decent-sized deal all told, about 40 titles, and I would hope they're in the process of negotiating another. If Warner Archive's horror output for October disappoints, maybe that will be an indication that something is in the works, if not already agreed?

I think the real concern with the Paramount deal is presuming that it will extend to the Select line. Beyond the Street Fighter films, the Warner one didn't, so it could be that it's restricted to horror titles. They've already said there are more Paramount titles coming, so I expect it to be a fairly comprehensive arrangement in the Scream respect.

I still can't believe that Xtro wasn't a part of the Warner package. Second sight release a fantastic limited edition set that I picked up, but I thought for sure Scream Factory would have released their own edition as well.

I would not be surprised to see SF release April Fool's Day and the Tenant, seeing that both are coming from Australia. I'm also interested in the April Fool's Day remake, which rode the tail end of the Post-Scream success, if I recall correctly. It warrants rediscovery.

Sounds plausible, although I'm still hoping for a Criterion release of The Tenant. It would look good right next to the Criterion Repulsion and Rosemary's Baby (or other Criterion Polanski releases).
