Default No games, eh?

http://vgchartz.com/hwcomps.php?cons...3=All&weekly=1

Just something I was curious about. Apparently for having no games for it, the PS3 seems to be keeping pace with the 360 in terms of software sales. Looking at it also, week for week since launch the PS3 and the 360 are keeping pace quite well.

It'll be interesting to see how the dynamic changes when the PS3 gets some high quality games. I think it's pretty clear that the PS3 is not going to be dropped any time soon.

Though the Wii had by far the best stats.

I feel the same way. Ratchet and Clank, Heavenly Sword, Lair, Sega Rally Revo, Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights, Need For Speed Pro Street, Unreal Tournament 3, and next year will be Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy 13. I'm looking forward to what Sony has coming out in the next few months.

The Wii hardly counts. It will never play standard def movies let alone hi-def. It isn't a serious game machine unless you're a giant fan of kiddy games or Japanese anime. Both interest me as much as a Tabasco sauce and bleach enema. With graphics that compare more to the Sega Dreamcast than even the original xbox it is certainly not next-gen in my opinion. I've played many Wii games at my sisters house. The control scheme is ridiculous. There is a boxing game on there this little kid from down the street can beat me and my nephew at just by flailing the controls around like he was having a grand mal seizure. My nephew and I are both fluent and trained in real life boxing. I'll bet too that not too many people who own the Wii even have hd tvs.

The Wii interface is awesome, for SOME games. Try playing Tiger Woods on the Wii.

Different systems do different things, but try not to hate too much. Are you sure you're not just mad that a little kid beat you up? Maybe you just got tired faster? Oh, and I have a HDTV, a really good one.

You know I’ve owned every game system this gen and I honestly don’t consider the Wii a serious game machine. After a few months the novelty wore off and the system just collected dust. IMO the best feature was playing the Virtual Console games. However I don’t think that’s a reason to buy a new system. It should be a bonus not the main reason to play the Wii. While I do enjoy the occasional classic from my youth I want to play the next new thing. I want my games in HD and enjoy it in beautiful 5.1 surround.

Also I want to mention that while the hardware sales of the Wii are fantastic the software sales are not. People who buy the system buy only a few games. Yes the Nintendo brand games will sell through that’s a given. The chances of a third-party game publisher to make any money off of a Wii game is very slim. I think EA is another that can do well, but it must appeal to the younger crown in order to sell. I think that is why on the cover of the Wii’s Madden 08 you see an emblem that shows that the games is family control friendly. I don’t think a lot of third parties make money off of the Wii as opposed to the other two current game machines.

yeah to me, the wii is a joke, i mean its for little kids and grandpas

there is barely any online support too, how can any gamer take that system seriously?

but for games, the ps3 will dominate next year, but the 360's got this year

next year we got mgs4, ff13, and killzone, the 360 and wii have no titles that can compete against that

I agree. Two types of people bought the Wii, hardcore Nintendo fanboys and casual gamers. While the fanboys will be spending a lot of money on software they're a very small fringe group, the casual gamers on the other hand, people who only bought a PS2 until the end of its lifecycle, will not spend that much on software. They're called "casual" for a reason.

I have 3 relatives in the 40 to 55 age range who bought a Wii. They only have Wii sports, an extra nunchuck and remote and thats it! They all don't have it connected to the internet because 2 out of three of them don't have Wifi.

I also have a Wii and am very excited about Metroid, problem of course is again scarce resources, there are also a lot PS3 games I want to buy.

And for the record I think Wii Fit is ridiculous. If you want to get in shape, go out and actually run at the gym! Stepping on and off a board will barely burn 100 calories in an hour.

Maybe I miss something, the charts shows consoles sales, which I can under stand the PS3 keeping up with Xbox 360. PS3 is a great Blu-ray player.

http://vgchartz.com/ayearly.php

Now going buy this information on Software totals
Xbox 360: 15,207,216
PS3: 4,916,446

That's a big difference in games, maybe this is way people say PS3 has no games.

Out of Top 50 games sold this year so far.
GC: 1
DS:12
Wii:10
PSP: 2
PS2:10
PS3:2
Xbox: 1
Xbox 360: 12

The Two PS3 games:
Rank 27. Resistance: Fall of Man
Rank 35. Motorstorm

The Top 2 Xbox 360 games
Rank 7. Guitar Hero II
Rank 10. Crankdown

But did you notice the top two PS3 games are Sony exclusives. Where the 360 games there is only one exclusive. Guitar Hero II was a IP that started out on the PS2...

Yeah, good games should be comming out soon.

BTW: RFOM is lame, very standard issue FPS

Only game I got for PS3 is Oblivion. i know most core gamers aren't into that kind of thing, but RPGs rule, i need more! Xbox 360 only has lame FPS (gone are the good old Quake 3 / Unreal Tournament days when FPS games were actualy fun ), Tom clancy, and Sports titles (only for sports junkies). Technically Xbox 360 has more games than PS3, but how many of these games are just more of the same?

PS3 need unique games, that will give them the advantage over 360.

Wii's success is because the fact it's Unique. Some core gamers roll their eyes but. Nintendo did not make the Wii for them.

Yes, but I also notice that out of top 5 Xbox 360 games sold this year. 3 of them were exclusive and I also notice that Xbox 360 has 9 games rank above the first PS3.

I would also like to add that I can't wait to see what this chart looks like after this year is over. There are some great games coming out, we should see some more PS3 game hit the top 50 by the end of this year.

The 360 had a whole year to roll out games. The chart that you should have seen was the weekly software sales. The 360 and PS3 aren't far off each other. They seem to have a similar sales rate. Which is funny considering one of the reasons why people say the PS3 will lose exclusives is because of poor software sales. From what I saw the PS3 had an exclusive title reach 1 million sales in May of 2007 (7 months after launch- it being RFOM) while the 360 took till September of 2006 for an exclusive to reach 1 million(10 months after launch- it being COD2).

That's why I find the "no games" argument funny. As if some people expeected them to have a AAA title out the door at launch and sell platinum titles like hotcakes.

The list in my link is for the Top 50 games for 2007 so far this year. It has nothing to do with last year sales. Unless you want to look at Total instead of Year.

Ok, I may have been confused as I was looking at the data. I was looking at all their charts and may have shifted them and not realized the data I was looking at.

Mea culpa. Though looking at the breakdown the PS3 is pretty much where the 360 was at the same point last year.

Still interesting to note that the top two for 360 was Guitar Heroes, which was guaranteed to sell really well considering the high it is in the past couple years, and the other was Crackdown, which no one liked but bought for the Halo 3 beta.

PS3 will get some much needed support in the software side this fall, it will be interesting to see how close PS3 games can be to the top by Christmas.

i think saying people only brought crackdown for the halo 3 beta is rather weak i rented it when i had a 360 and it was a very fun game and i know alot of other people got a kick out of it two.
