KLI, I’ve really enjoyed the Spoilers, Pittsburg, and all the ‘Road’ movies, are there any more Bob Hope or Randolph Scott movies still to come on blu ray?

So Studio Canal is out of a new deal, but hopefully you have something brewing with another company. Still a ton of films that need a Blu-ray release.

There'll certainly be demand for it if they get Alan Spencer on board for the special features. He has a dedicated fan base and serious GET SMART fans know Alan knows his stuff, so they'll definitely pick this up if his name is attached to it.

Wait, looking over the post you commented on, there is no mention of Studio Canal. I assumed that SC stood for StudioCanal, but does SC stand for something else?

When I read posts like that, I think “Good LORD have you SEEN some of the stuff that’s been released on blu ray?!” I mean, stuff that has 1) no nostalgic value, 2) little to no artistic merit, 3) no notoriety, just completely obscure productions that no one asked for. Yet you never hear people complain about those.

HOMEBODIES sounds great. Never seen it but sounds like maybe a fun mix of ROSEMARY’S BABY and WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO AUNT ALICE?

Would be great if KL could get their hands on another former Embassy Home Entertainment VHS (not Avco Embassy, but Embassy Home Entertainment videocassettes) release, DARK PLACES (Christopher Lee, Joan Collins). The people have been clamoring for it for so long!

Yes, I meant StudioCanal.

We have close to 150 or more films (current deals) to still release. We're always looking to do new deals, but let's get some of this stuff released before adding more to our slate.

150? Wow. For some reason I thought it was much less, but that's a lot!

Bear in mind many of those will be films they've already announced. In terms of what we know about, there's 1 MGM film left to announce, 3 Universal (though one of those will be Wings of the Hawk), and something like 20-25 StudioCanal. Even if you add other acquisitions to that list I can't see the number of unannounced films topping 50, unless there's a sizeable deal we're unaware of.

Yep. Kino's getting lazy.

j/k

Surely they're the most prolific label going? Somebody must have stats on this type of stuff.

Ok, so that makes sense. Probably less than 50 in terms of titles we don't know about.

Hopefully Kino gets another deal going in 2020.

Damn, 150 more titles and this SC one is not among them.... The colors in this one are amazing and I can't even imagine what it would look like in HD (same with The Girl Can't Help It).

I really need this one and Fathom to chip away at my Raquel Welch dvd collection (Myra Breckenridge would be great too). I don't think anyone has released more Raquel than Kino and I am very grateful. Hey Barndoor, who is going to release Bluebeard? I don't think it will come out in the U.K. because they would have to cut the entire beginning of the film and not just a few minutes either. It is brutal....

So what you’re saying is that all Blu labels should only release titles that YOU YOURSELF think are worth releasing. Got it. Please do send all the studios your contact info so they can start working on that. I’m so glad to know someone is watching out for the rest of us idiots and dictating what should be released and what shouldn’t.

According to the Insider, Bluebeard wasn't on the 'available' list, which means it's either with another label or '?', as he put it.

If it is with another label, I can't see Criterion picking it up, so presumably Shout? I think it would just about fit in the Scream line. I'm still hoping Scream might have some other titles that may or may not be with SC - Twisted Nerve and Theatre of Death chief among them.

Jacob's Ladder is Studio Canal, though Lionsgate puts it out here now. That'd be a hot 4k release, wink wink.
