THE longset drive I've ever been on was on a bun to Mexico, took about 26 hours.

Dude, this is a family forum, please keep your comments about "riding buns" to yourself or post them in the Adult Forum section.

The longest drive I've been a part of was from Colorado to Maine, as a kid with my dad in a U-Haul. Driving myself, it was from Florida to Massachusetts. I tried to make it straight through but I couldn't make it, had to pull over for a short nap in my cramped, packed car.

Speaking of long drives, the wife wants us to drive from Mass to Myrtle Beach SC in a couple weeks (just to "get away" and relax in warm weather). I'm not really too excited about it, I'd rather just wait a couple months and then it'll be warm up here!

LOL, OVN - I was going to ask if he was a hot dog!

Are they really that cheap? Wow... I may have to take a look-see.

WHy own a car if you aren't going to put some miles on it? I drove a modded 2003 Cobra over 1300 miles each direction. I changed the oil before and after.

I drove my beat to hell XJ over 1000 miles each way to Colorado with basic maintenace before and after.

Why rent a car?

I didn't think they were $800, but I did think they were more expensive than they were.

Check out Amazon (I just did). They have some great prices on them there. I may just pick myself one up they are so affordable...

The Road to Hana.

Awesome drive if you have patience. It's nto the distance you drive. It's the time it takes. Made it all the way from Ka'anapali to Oheo Gulch and back in 7 hours.

Do you know if these things are hard to install?I always thought they were expensive because I have a Alpine in dash tv,When I wanted to get navigation on it they told me it was an extra 1000.00.

It was best the first time just my wife and I. When we went last year we had a caravan of 3 cars and they just couldn't keep up. Well, one could but the other couldn't.

Funny too cause I was in the mustang convertible which is big for that road.

Years ago I went to the south of France, almost at the Spanish border with this friend. It was a crazy week-end, it was during my military duty in Germany so that Friday I rode 500 Km from Germany to Belgium (in train), then 1200 Km with a car to the south of France, we stayed a few hours only, then back home some 1200 Km in the car and after sleeping some hours home it was Sunday and I was back in the train and to the barracks in Germany which is 500 more Km.

In total that week-end I did 3400 Km across 3 countries.

Not that I know of (it seems pretty straightforward). It comes with maps (which can be updated) and you just mount it (with suction thingy) to either the windshield or the dashboard. It picks up the signal for where you are from the satellites floating around up there, and that seems to be about all there is to it. Comes with a car adapter to plug it in. That's about it as far as I know.

Man, you just reminded me of some looong drives I forgot about - from Munich, W Germany to Lorrett de Mar Spain twice and again to the far end of Spain (Rota). Also made about four trips from Munich to Holland by rental car...good times...and many, many ski trips. That was a lot of driving.
