Anybody having issues with Dolby Vision/HDR/Atmos on AppleTV? The app doesn't seem to recognize either HDR nor Atmos despite the device and films through iTunes themselves doing just fine.

I've had no problems with Apple TV 4K connected to a TCL 4K TV. It didn't support something related to Dolby Vision at first but a recent update to either the Apple TV or the TV itself cleared that up. I don't have a receiver capable of Atmos, but I do know there has been active recent discussion in the AppleTV subreddit about studios pulling Dolby Atmos support from movies on iTunes (reportedly due to licensing changes.)

On the TV side, I can't comment.

The iOS app was a fluid experience good quality on my iPad 10.5. But it's still a small screen in the end.
But the app doesn't support HDR playback on iOS devices.

Netflix does support HDR playback on certain iPads and iPhones, hopefully Disney will follow.

But there are still some annoying bugs. Subtitles are carrying a transparent black bar behind the subtitle like in Chrome, iOS, Android, PS4 etc. The Edge browser got no such issues. Also the Edge browser experience is smoother than using Chrome and no stuttering. No difference in streaming quality between those browsers, equal.

Speaking of streaming quality on the website: it looks like something between the middle of 720p-1080p. I am missing a certain type of sharpness, which I did spot when I was checking back and comparing the trailer of Toy Story 3 in 1080p on YouTube and the movie on Disney+. And that trailer got it's own YouTube compression too.

There is also no option giving on the website, if you want to change the streaming quality. Just hit and play.

Oh, and each time you start a movie or resume, Disney places a transparent overlay which darkens the movie with the rating information and/or any other important info for children, like flashing images that kinda information.
If you manually click that info away or move your mouse, that overlay will still return. Sit that overlay out and it's gone within the movie.

But if you leave the movie and again resume where you left off, or fast forward, again that overlay kicks in. It makes the movie again 50% darker due to that overlay. You again have to sit that overlay out, before it's gone. Meanwhile your movie is already playing and it's affecting the viewing experience. That overlay is too aggressive for my taste and becomes annoying already. Tested on both iOS and web version.

Still work to be done for Disney.

Here's a list of the live-action Disney theatrical film titles I could make out as that guy was scrolling and scrolling...No Three Lives of Thomasina. A whole lot of Walt-era movies are missing (didn't see Dr. Syn or Zorro, The Three Lives of Thomasina, So Dear to my Heart, Kidnapped, and obviously Song of the South, and a ton of others).

I also ignored made-for-cable, tv and home video films, even though some of them received theatrical release overseas.

As for the Disney animated films, they're all there, except for Make Mine Music (too bad), both Rescuers films unless I missed them, Princess and the Frog, Treasure Planet, and Victory Through Air Power (I wasn't expecting it.)

Anyway, these are the Disney live-action theatrical films I could make out on the Netherland video.
