By the way, I read your review on AVSforum. Great review I must say. Can't wait to get mine calibrated.
Too funny as i saw your screen name over there as well on the last page and was like is this the same person over here??? LOL

I love my 5020 and I get your point on the Elites no clue if they have an autorized online dealer or not, I would still guess that Amazon is but who knows, one can check Pioneers site they list them on there.

I also have pics in my gallery as I just got my TV mounted the other day and calibrated and it looks sooooo nice...

To be an authorized Elite dealer Pioneer requires every dealer to have a retail store. There are many Pioneer Elite authorized dealers on the Internet. Best Buy, Cruthfield, Vanns.com, etc.

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/FindStore/Buy+Pioneer+Products+on+the+Internet

Also there are some Pioneer authorized Elite dealers that open only one retail store and then start up a website so they can sell the product mail order. Many small retail stores do not even buy directly from Pioneer but from an authorized Pioneer distributor. When I purchased the Pioneer PRO-141FD with a KRP-TS01 stand from a mail order company instead of paying $7,400 list price the total cost came to $5,025 delivered. The item was not shipped from the mail order companies retail store directly but from DSI Systems INC which is an authorized Pioneer distributor. DSI Systems Inc will only ship Pioneer Elite and Elite Signature products to companies that have a retail store and have been approved by Pioneer to be an authorized Elite dealer. Basically a Pioneer rep comes out to visit the retail store to give approval. Then some of those retail stores once they get Pioneer Elite authorized start selling the Elite product nationwide by Internet or mail order sales.

It is good to support ones local store like Best Buy also but my Best Buy just had the used PRO-141FD open box that someone returned for $6,000. I decided to get a new model instead.

Thanks for looking that up. I knew there was some stipulation to buying an elite online just wasn't sure what. Thanks again for clearing that up.

Totally random! Just wanted to say how much I luv my nu toy! In a way I'm glad Pioneer's done else I wouldnt have been able to buy it/afford it, not to mention convince the wife. Everytime I would look at my aunt's Pioneer [2005 model, and she doesnt even like watching TV, just one of those affluent people who wanted the best] I would tell myself that someday I was gonna get myself one. Never considered for a sec it would be this soon!

I am soooo glad I made the purchase and believe me you will too.
The Samsung DLP I have does have a nice sharp image but so many other quality issues that sometimes it's all I focus on. Poor blacks, hour glass shape on 4:3 material, bleed through, it doesn't have all that many features. I can't completely dog this set out but it wasn't my choice of TV's. Samsung gave me my current DLP as a trade-out because my previous DLP had issues with the 1st light engine, light tunnel failed three times, shutting off, Analog board failed, digital board failed, color wheel went bad. Anyhow it was take the trade or live with my original DLP and keep getting repairs done when needed. Good thing I bought the extended warranty !!! At this point in time I've had enough of rear projection DLP technology TV's.

It is kind of a bummer that I will be going to a smaller screen but I fell in love with the Pioneer Elite Kuro a long time ago and I wanted to get one some day, but now is the last chance to do so. I really wish I had the room for the PRO-151FD but I don't think I have enough. Also I haven't seen any great discounts on the 151 either. I know I will be really happy with the PRO-111FD, can't wait !!!

Just a few more days...................

I always like to calibrate and tweak stuff myself. My wife always tells me that I would rather play with my toys, rather than sit still and watch it. Hey it's OCD !!! No matter what I'm always gonna adjust the settings to what I like best for each source. I'm a big supporter of "personal preference" and the "do your own thing" way of thinking.

The break in time shouldn't be so bad. I mean, I barely get to watch TV but between my wife and kids, 100 hours or so will happen in a day........ kidding !!! I plan to leave the TV on during nights a few days a week to help pass some hours by. I don't think it's something to worry too much about like it was with older plasma technology.

Definitely looking forward to this weekend

Sorry, Crutchfield is an authorized Pioneer dealer for car stereos, my mistake. There are other mail order companies that have Pioneer Elite products. For example there is 6th Avenue electronics. If you visit their website you have to call them or email them for a price quote on Elite products since most companies that are authorized do not post the lowest price on their website.

http://www.6ave.com/shop/searchresults.aspx?pti=0200&mnm=Pioneer&cti=0201

Here are a link of some Pioneer authorized dealers and only a few carry Elite products. Usually a live chat or phone call is needed to get price quotes

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/FindStore/Buy+Pioneer+Products+on+the+Internet

http://www.4electronicwarehouse.com/c/tv/elite

http://search.vanns.com/sitesearch/search?q=pro-141fd&fq=brand_sis:%22Pioneer%22

http://www.onecall.com/ProductSearch.aspx?Ntt=pro+141fd&N=1167

When they say retail only on the website, they mean you have to call them or do a live chat for pricing and shipping info. For example the following link says "retail only" but then it also says they will ship the item with free shipping. Basically almost any Pioneer authorized Elite dealer will ship the product anywhere in the USA. Sometimes the product comes directly from DSI Systems Inc which is a authorized Pioneer distributor for many retail stores. All they do is use DSI Systems Inc to drop ship the Elite product. Other bigger companies will buy from Pioneer directly and bypass the distributor.

Thanks for all of your helpful info. I was going to purchase the pioneer 151fd, but after a great sale price at ultimate electronics I decided to get the 111fd. I ordered my tv on 2/12/09 and just got a call telling me it came in today so come payday Friday I will pay the rest of it off and they will deliver later that day. I'm excited beyond belief and have been researching it for 2 months. I bought my first 1080p Sony 46 xbr3 in October 2006 and I love it so it's kind of hard to imagine a better picture, but I have heard this pioneer is top dog and what all tvs are measured against. Friday can't some soon enough!

I'm pretty picky when it comes to pics and just haven't had the time. There's a dozen or so I've taken using my BlackBerry but they suck a$$. Have to get my DSLR out of the box for some real photographs. Possibly this weekend! Those pics by m5ster of his Kuro on the avsforum are crazy, I'm hoping for some like that or even close to them else I aint putting them up, it would be too embarrasing lol! Plus its sitting on top of a cheap shelf I got from Walmart so it looks pretty horrid lol! Waiting to get it mounted after calibration sometime during summer.
