People are probably far more dismissive of Bill Rebane himself than any re-release though.
I don't get how VCI makes stuff look so bad most of the time. Even retromedia with no budget releases does better. Whatever digital processing VCI sticks on nearly every release is just bad.

This VCI effort was a lot better than the DVD but it still has that trademark mushy green VCI look to it.

Dave,

In the interest of getting this thread going again, can we get some ETAs for ATOR, MIRROR MIRROR, and YETI?

They're very old school. They may still be using old 90's equipment for transfers

You are polite with them but if we ever put out a release looking like that we'd be crucified.

ATOR is due to come out of replication any day now and MIRROR MIRROR is about to begin replication. If the troll situation remains under control both could be forthcoming very soon. YETI will be a little longer. Also DRIVE-IN #7 featuring the newly restored and pretty cool Dean Stockwell flick THE LONERS is in replication as well.

False.

Scréencaps:
http://www.mondo-digital.com/carrier.html

I keep wondering if people consistently wishing for the theatrical cut actually even watch the movies they buy. It's like consistently wishing for the theatrical cut of Batman v Superman or any other movie that had a measurably substantially worse TC (as noted in the above review), there is little repeat watchabiity value in the TC after you've watched the DC. DC has some dnr ( I've seen worse by the majors in many discs) and TC has poor color & blown out whites

Time to move on instead of dredging this up every week.

Personally I always put much more weight in a movies theatrical cut.

I want to see a movie the way it was originally released, warts and all.

I mean I like to have more cuts for the novelty of it as well, to see how it was originally released, etc.

But after watching it once, when I revisit the Blu down the road I pretty much never choose a substantially worse cut (don't have the time to waste) so the worse TC in this case has minimal value when the notably superior DC is on the same disc. I don't see myself ever wanting to revisit the TC now that I have the DC - other than to show people how laughably bad the TC ending is compared to the DC ending and I can do that with the current disc. There are some movies where the TC has some advantage like pacing etc but in this case the TC is just worse all around.

The Carrier first screened as the director's cut. The "theatrical cut" was only created on the distributors' behest later.

Is there a backstory to this? The distributors cut definitely did the movie a disservice IMO.

Nothing yet though I assume that will be in the next live stream. Most likely I would guess a deal for some or all of code reds properties - makes sense given bills health issues and costs. If not that possibly some partnership deal with vinegar syndrome which is a long shot but still possible given how vinegar syndrome has been worked into the storyline lately so heavily. I mean it was weird in a recent live stream how Dave was simultaneously criticizing but also saying he was going to buy numerous vinegar syndrome releases off their website.

It could just be a licensing deal for a big film tho that would be a bit disappointing given all the build up by this point.

Trolls have apparently reported that page to Facebook as well and prevented live streaming ability so they are doing a pre-recorded video instead. Shame people are so petty.

Damon Packard mentioned that the Olsens don’t have the rights to The Farmer or a complete print to release it. (Demon claims Walt has the rights)
