I wonder why he is in the Criterion office? I am trying to think what movie of his Criterion would put out. I have Ichi The Killer, The Happiness of the Katakuris and As The Gods Will. I have seen Visitor Q which was too much even for me (and that's saying something) and Sukiyaki Western Django which I thought was ok. I would like to someday make it through all his movies. I am thinking maybe I should try Gozu next. Speaking of pictures, I love this one of him...

I'm thinking he might be in NY to promote First Love which is getting a limited release here. However, maybe there is a Miike film getting the Criterion treatment.

I personally think Graveyard of Honor is his best work, but that seems more like a title Arrow would release. Gozu is off the wall nuts. I watched that one in theaters, and it was pretty funny watching the 20 people in the theater leave until there was about 5 left in the end.

I think Miike was just doing the rounds for the screenings of First Love. If he was there for anything else, I would assume it would be for something he was an AD on. Something like Ronin gai (which Criterion has the right to) or maybe Black Rain.

That's a very good point about Ronin Gai. I would LOVE to see that film get the Blu-ray treatment. One of Shintaro Katsu's best performances and an epic showdown at the end of the film.

As you can see from my avatar I love Zatoichi. But I've only watched all 25 films in the set 3 times, I think. I've watched some of my favorites a few more times.

I always get irritated when people grab a DVD when there's a Blu-ray right in plain sight next to it!

This site's review of L'humanité makes the movie sound dreadful and unappealing to watch. Has anyone who has seen it concur with this opinion? I was considering it for a blind-buy at one time.

He's even interviewed for that release! He was the main reason why I blind bought it. Totally do not regret it either!
