Any news about a re-release of THE THIRD MAN or will it be the first film on 4k released by Criterion? They should release 100,000 copies on 4k or even 8k. What are your thoughts?

I agree, but I still like him anyway.

I don't rate The Immigrant highly though. It looked great and all, but it didn't totally work for me.

So it broke even.

Looking forward to Ad Astra. It looks better than Z.

Nearly anything I've seen with Cotillard works for me in the end, and that includes The Immigrant. I just find her performances captivating. Heck, Two Days, One Night and Macbeth are two of the best films I own.

She's the best thing about Inception. That's for sure. And it's the hottest she's ever looked in a movie.

Criterion no longer has the license to Third Man, Studio Canal has taken-up releasing it domestically. Criterion could re-release it if they made another deal with them which we don't really think is going to happen any time soon. Criterion hasn't said if or when they're going to get into UHD releases but when it does happen, it's likely to be something else entirely.

The Devils is coming to The Criterion Channel next month. Can this be an omen of a physical release?

If it’s a new scan, but it’s been on there before or filmstruck. I can’t remember, but I’m pretty sure it was the edited version too. Feel free to correct me!

8K? Have you seen the prices of an 8K TV? We might get a UHD eventually, but not of The Third Man of that I'm sure. My bet would be on a newer more well known title

Yea, it was on filmstruck before and wasn't the uncensored version.

Actually judging from what Kino Insider has said, they most likely *have* licensed a bunch of titles from Studio Canal again. There were a lot of titles that they stated they couldnt get because another label already got them (such as Army Of Shadows and Le Cercle Rouge)

The 4k restoration Studio Canal blu released in 2015 is gorgeous, and region free. It can be imported for under $18.00 from Amazon UK.

I am aware, I am only speaking from knowledge that they had lost the license which they did. We don't know if it's been picked up again but it'd be great if so.

Has any 4K ever released sold 100,000 copies?

Has any Criterion release ever sold 100,000 copies?

Are 8K discs a thing?

Criterion should invent 8K discs specifically for The Third Man and sell 100,000 copies bundled with 8K televisions and players. This is feasible

In the future you'll be able to upload a Criterion release to your brain and enjoy the movie as you would a past memory. Costs would be much lower with no packaging.

I have the German disc of The Third Man which is identical to the UK 4K remaster disc. It was cheap as hell and the restoration is gorgeous. Has plenty of extras, too.

Yes, but you won't own it and the rights to it could be recalled at any time without any notice. Oh, and if you travel to a foreign country, you'll have to declare those memories at customs.
