I would assume for the films that weren't released by Kino. So Le Circle Rouge, Le Samourai, Le Deuxième Souffle, Le silence de la mer, and Les Enfants Terribles? I would assume Two Men in Manhattan is still with Cohen. Even though I got the UK Studiocanal Essential box, if Criterion were to release a Melville set I be buying Day 1.

That said this looks like more like a Criterion Channel thing than an actual release.

They're all streaming as a "collection" on the Criterion Channel, including several whose rights are with Kino, and the YT video includes "Criterion Channel Teaser" in the title, so no, I doubt it indicates anything else besides that.

All of these titles, besides Le cercle rouge, are currently in print from Criterion, and the I'm fairly certain that the insider from the Kino thread has expressed that that film has been acquired by "another label" (i.e. not them, and more than likely Criterion). So it seems like this is actually pretty damn likely, but I'm guessing maybe not in box set form.

No it does not, just the booklet which is foldout style instead of stapled.

Would be a shame if they don't do a boxset. At minimum they need to reprint Army of Shadows, it's going for absurd prices now.

So many pretty pictures, but too often so little substance behind them.
