just curious, why is this such a big deal?

its much easier to see where people views lie (if thats the point of the thread) to make a single poll versus possibly having to dig through pages of responses.

We have been getting a ton of complaints about this, plus the polls come from market researchers. If they want to make a thread and read it, and gather info, there is nothing we can do to stop them. Are we going to make life easy for them? No.

well to me polls are here for a reason and i think their use is encouraged so long as they are not overused and used sensibly. someone going and making 10 threads about ARE THESE DIRECTORS/MOVIES GREAT OR NOT? YES OR NO? etc is abusing and overusing them imo...

I completely support this. Some of the polls are so insanely long that it's impossible to vote because you lose track of the first 50 choices by the time you've read the entire poll.
