Why does the MCU get so much hate now? It's not.

Are you saying that MCU movies are watered down just like Taco Bell's tacos that have too much lettuce & not enough beef?

And... that's it. Look at all the mediocre, pathetic Marvel fanboys going nuts after ArrestedDevelopment comment.

That's what it takes to get them irked.

That's what MCU fanboys can't comprehend. The more they cry over someone's opinion, the more hate MCU movies will get.

Success doesn't equal good in art folks, the music industry being an obvious example.

I don't have a hate for the MCU, but unfortunately the criticism that you can level at Marvel for their movies now and get backlash for is ridiculous. They're not movies beyond criticism which is why it makes it so stupid how some will defend anything Marvel do for the MCU even if somebody can point out a clear reasoning why they don't like certain choices etc.

There's many MCU entries i really liked and then there's those i don't really like as much but never "hated" any. I just think some have questionable scenes take place. Ragnarok for example is showing the genocide of Asgard and a sombre scene is being built up to let the emotion flow and weight of what's happening sink in. Oh wait, we haven't had a joke in 2 seconds. Cue Korg aka the director of the movie

Marvel has become a brand that seems to rely on humour a LOT and their cinematography is generic and quite uninspired when finished in post. They all have a very similar "Marvel look" as i'm coining it and its not really giving each movie an identify imo.

I respect what they accomplished in the grand scheme of things, with Endgame being the conclusion to a long series of stories but it doesn't change my view on what the movies individually are - repetitive, made by committee products with little artistic vision.

And yep, my opinion changed with more thought. I changed my scores for multiple films that I watched this year. Feel free to continue stalking my posts in the 2019 rankings thread lol.

It doesn't take much to get people irked around here. If you say that you don't think 4K is a big enough upgrade then you're bashed and crapped on for saying so, if you're not a fan of A24 films then you only enjoy kiddy and childish films, if you like the MCU then you're a "pathetic Marvel fanboy", if you collect slipcovers then you're wrong and they belong in the trash, buying movies on release day is a waste and you should wait until Black Friday. The list goes on and on but you get my point. These are examples of what I see every single day around here.

Simple truth is that a majority of the website is unable to handle opinions that differ from their own. You make fun of "pathetic Marvel fanboys" but if someone were to go in the Joker thread and shit on it or give it lower than a 5/5, you'd all probably gang up on them and start throwing insults around. Actually as a matter of fact, someone did exactly this when gundamcero posted that they didn't care for Joker last week.

Seeing the stupid amount of hate for the MCU around here is just ridiculous. What a toxic environment it becomes when others see that you're passionate about something and a real fan of a franchise. Expecting people not to respond and defend something that they love is unrealistic.

But you did the same thing, though. You call Marty a salty old man just because he gave his opinions on the MCU.

But neither does success equal that something is inherently pandering and lowest-common-denominator.

This would make sense but its just one big contradiction coming from you. Because you are one that gets irked if people don't like MCU films. You are also one that puts down things you don't like. i.e. DC, 4K, A24 lol.

Yep which is where the examples came from. Plenty of others have similar opinions though, look around the forum once in a while. And when have I ever said that I don't like DC? I don't like certain DC films but I do like DC, I like comics in general. Go back and check my posts gushing over Titans and Aquaman. I've said flatout that Titans is better (to me) than anything Marvel has produced for Netflix or TV. So to say that I don't like DC is just stupid.

I rewatched Howard a few months ago. While I initially hated the entire movie, on rewatching I really enjoyed most of it. I think the bedroom scene prevents it from achieving cult status. Of all the movies George Lucas chose to re-edit, why wasn't this one of them?

Other than his Endgame cameo, I fear we won't see Howard in the MCU any time soon, if ever.
