![]() This is the cheapest device it will work on, $27 delivered: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...KIKX0DER&psc=1 And yeah it sucks you don't get the menu's or extras. Perhaps they are saving that for their own overpriced box. |

The set in my bedroom is a 65" plasma which i still enjoy very much so that cheap option will do just fine for me. I tried the app out on the 4K TCL in the other bedroom and everything was great except for the missing features the Apple box has. Nice to be able to watch iTunes stuff of the big screen finally - even if the experience is slightly butchered, for now. I wondered if that may be the case when they announced it was coming to Roku. |

Overpriced is a matter of opinion. I own 3 Roku TVs and 2 Apple TV boxes (well, technically 3, but I don't count the third). Would I prefer they were cheaper? Sure, but I don't regret the money I spent on them.

But yes you are correct, it is a matter of opinion. |

I was finally able to sign in (if you have an SD card in your Roku, take it out, sign in, and put it back in after - this app doesn't play nicely with it for some reason).
Anyone else have the "cover art" for their movies showing up in a foreign language? Not all of them or even most of them, but a few of them. Weird. Two off the top of my head are Incarnate and Max Keeble. |

They're slowly correcting them. When Apple first redesigned the TV app a while back, there was a lot more of them affected. |

The Roku app is a game-changer for me. I'll be purchasing my movies through iTunes during its sales from now on. Previously, if it was a non-MA movie, I bought it through Prime Video when they matched the iTunes sale price.
Really? Do others agree with this? |

There was a user (not sure if this website) who did a super indepth look at the same movies on each major service (iTunes, Vudu, Prime Video and I think FandangoNow) vs bluray. They had a bunch of screenshots and somehow got a peek at the actual meta data and filesizes. Consistently Prime video files were larger (not a guarantee of quality of course) but also had a higher video bitrate that iTunes (which was the cause of the file size difference). (for 1080 not 4K)
In all honesty the screenshots they had seemed kind of inconclusive for me. But I just compared a few MA movies between iTunes and Prime Video and I still think Prime comes out on top with video as well. I felt the blacks were less blocky on Prime. Granted I only did a 1080p comparison since I have not currently got a 4K tv to test out the 4K movies I have. Unfortunately I can't seem to find a link to that thread now. Again this was 1080p I have no clue about their UHD streams which may have a completely different video quality when comparing. This was Prime vs iTunes did not really look between Vudu and MA app. |

Call me crazy, but on the Apple TV at least, I'd rather watch a 1080p movie in iTunes over a 4K movie in VUDU or whoever else.
I watched Infinity War in 4K on VUDU when released and was left unimpressed. Watched the same movie in iTunes a few weeks later and I literally said 'wow' outloud. ![]() I'm no Apple zealot by any means, but they got some kind of special sauce in their compression and video codecs. |

I installed the app on my Roku, but I don't think my 4K purchases are playing in 4K...I tried my Toy Story collection and others...when I see the details during playback, it only says HD...
Any way to change some settings to make it 4K in playback on apple tv app on Roku? Or is this because I had redeemed the codes on Movies Anywhere and not on iTunes directly? |
