We won’t see it as a complaint. You paid for a brand new item, and I don’t think anybody here would find fault with your wanting the set you bought to be in that condition. In fact, I need to order one myself. I bought my Hitch set about a year ago, and it had a tear on the bottom of the slip box. I just forgot to contact them.

It will come in a hard cardboard mailer used to securely ship photographs.

In all honesty, that Blu-ray wasn't that bad but I love Lyndon and would happily get it if it's substantially better.

The extras seem interesting too.
It was for me the reason to buy a multiregion player. I already had the WB disc, and id say the Criterion is worth it to upgrade, even including the price of a new player.

Yes, they definitely will. I have done this more than once and they are great about replacing anything damaged. They replaced my Hitchcock box (they ship the replacement flat) which arrived very crushed. I feel if I'm paying for something new, it should look new. Here's their replacement form:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...OTURg/viewform

For damaged discs they ask that you email John at mulvaney@criterion.com

^ Ha, maybe Lynch is just a fan. It’s far, far less noteworthy, but I approve of that edition as well.

I opened my copy of Videodrome tonight from the recent sale and was surprised to find no disc! Anyone ever have this happen?

I have never had that happen, but I'm sure they'll send you a replacement. But this got me to thinking. Although it's probably a rarity, I might start opening my recent purchases to make sure the disc is there. I have about 100 unopened discs, some of them purchased 10 years ago, although none of them are Criterions. It would be quite a disappointment to finally get around to opening one and find no disc.

I opened a dvd I had purchased 15 years earlier and found no disc inside.
I just figured it had rotted away to nothing.

There's things I bought where I thought there was no disc inside because it felt so light.

So Criterion have a lot of these "Director Approved" stickers they can just slap on to any ol' thing?

"Hey Criterion, the grading on this new transfer..." DIRECTOR-APPROVED!
"This looks kinda soft..." DIRECTOR-APPROVED, BIYOTCH!
"I can see some artifacts..." DIRECTOR-APPROVED, STFU!

Never had that happen but I've gotten the wrong disc inside before (not from Criterion).

Anyway, you got me to open my Videodrome right away, looked good luckily. I opened them all actually though I usually keep them sealed til I watch them. Was pleasantly surprised to see Magnificent Obsession was a 2-disc set with a whole different version of the film included.

Received my flash sale order today so of course tonight I watched Polyester first. I know CC & John Waters have a pretty great relationship but whats the luck of getting a lot more Waters? Ive heard rumors about Desperate Living but does CC have Pink Flamingos, Pecker or Cecil B. Demented? Has anyone heard anything?

Betty Blue, All About Eve. Now Voyager, Wim Wenders pic....Criterion is on a roll! All are day ones for me. Maybe even Temple Drake as well.

Tempted to get Do The Right Thing as well for it's fantastic cinematography even though I somewhat resist it's cynicism and meretricious politics.

Dreamer, if you really want to see Shearer at her finest, try to focus on her early films as they are the best. She seemed to get a bit affected in the later years as MGM got more and more glossed up in phoniness. My personal favorite is the Ernst Lubitsch silent, THE STUDENT PRINCE IN HEIDELBERG from 1927. She is absolutely luminous in it and adorable, truly commanding your attention and affection in every scene. Unfortunately, it's not on Blu and I don't believe it even made it to DVD or the Warner Archive, but keep checking TCM which is where I saw it.

Years ago I ordered the Criterion DVD three disc set of MR. ARKADIN from the long lamented retailer GoHastings. Well, they sent me the three discs in a damaged TWO disc case without any artwork at all. Hastings apologized, refunded my money and told me to keep the discs. So just for the heck of it I contacted Criterion and explained the situation and they wrote back and said for $5 shipped they would send me the original three disc case with the artwork. I thought this was very reasonable and sent them the money. In return I got the original three disc case with the artwork, plus the outer slipbox plus the original NOVEL that came with the release! Criterion rules!
