Does Scream usually announce a bunch of titles on Halloween? I know they did a few years ago, but I can't remember if they did last year?

They definitely did two years ago (all of February's slate, 5 titles I think, though they weren't exactly high profile ones), can't remember last year (I want to say they announced Valentine, but I really can't remember), but Jeff did tease a Halloween announcement or two on the podcast, so I'm definitely expecting something, be it a bunch or less. They might announce the rest of February's slate (so 4-5 new announcements plus art for MBV and Pet Sematary 2), or they might just save those for the following week and instead announce one or two bigger titles (Paramount?) coming later down the line.

EDIT: They did announce Valentine (and only Valentine), a February title. But given that we already have two big CE's announced for February 2020, I'd be surprised if they had another major Paramount title lined up for then, so that could lead them to change tact.

It would be nice if we might hear about a few titles after February. Really crossing my fingers for the Dead Zone and Tales from the Darkside for their Paramount titles in the future. In 2016 they announced a bunch of titles, but then again that was three years. Either way, hopefully we get a few good titles from them and Arrow this week.

A Tales From the Darkside / April Fools Day announcement would be great. I'd even say that the only thing that could top it would be my Sorority House Massacre 2 announcement I've been wanting. With that said I'm not expecting any Halloween announcements for new titles (I'm sure we'll get a special features update on a title or two).

i know that’s not their fault and they can only work with what they are given, but man it’s depressing about all the stuff that gets lost. and looking for elements is not easy or quick.

I finally got around to watching my copy of Rockula. Something odd happens during a
[Show spoiler]rap song scene
performed by Dean Cameron around 41 minutes into the film. The video becomes extremely choppy like something went wrong in the encoding. It goes back to normal in the next scene. I saw that one other person mentioned this in the Rockula thread, but that thread has gotten little to no traffic. Had anyone else noticed this or mentioned it to Shout? This one was supposed to be a new master, so I guess someone could have hit a wrong button.

I think they'll definitely announce one new title, probably a Collector's Edition of something at least moderately well known. Maybe a double dip like The Monster Squad (w/ Wolfman's Got Nards doc maybe?) or something else Halloweeny.

Is this sequel any good? I've heard lots of praise but the first one is a PAINFULLY dull Halloween rip-off. I love all three Slumber Party Massacre movies. I never even continued on to watch SHM2 or Hard to Die, it left me with such a bad taste in my mouth.

Where the first Sorority House Massacre takes itself extremely seriously. The two sequels are strongly in the area of camp. If you enjoyed Slumber Party Massacre 2 you'll like the sequels for Sorority House Massacre.

Fixed.

As far as I'm aware, Olive still has an active license and I could see it being on their radar for a "Signature Edition" release, along with The Running Man and maybe Cujo.

I watched it for the first time a few weeks ago. My impression was that it's a 90s related special effect for the music video. Can't say for sure since I'd never seen the movie, but that seems to make since.

Speaking of which, I gotta dust this gem off, it's been too long since I've watched it!
Did anyone ever include the workprint for Freaked? I had it on VHS and although I dont recall much as it has probably been 20 years since I watched it, it was fairly different than the final film.

I wonder what was used for the Japanese bluray that came out a few months ago. I'm pretty sure there are prints of various movies in the hands of private collectors, but knowing who has what would be an issue. I had a film print of the Hellfire Club at one point. In another case I had a near mint original pre-code print of a rare Karloff movie that had never been released on video called the Public Defender from 1931. It finally was released on DVD a few years after I got the print (not a very good movie).

Is it worth taking a look? Is Scream a logical choice for a potential Blu-ray release?

Cheers
Because I buy movies from around the world, I have seen this was released on bluray somewhere, but I can't remember what region. I did see it when it came out, and as I am a fan of the Blair Witch Project, I was probably disappointed a bit. I dont recall much though ( I try not to commit much about plot of movies to memory, when possible, so if I watch it a couple of years later, I may have forgotten most of it, and it's almost like watching a new movie.

SHM2 presents itself as a sequel to the original Slumber Party Massacre film. For as dull as the original SHM film was, this one is over the top wacky (in a very fun way that only late 80's/early 90's horror could be). If you enjoy the Slumber Party Massacre Films you will 100% love this this film.

Can one of you fine folk re-post the list of (potential) Universal horror movies that could be fodder for future Universal horror editions? I recall on one of the podcasts that Cliff said they'd all be in chronological order from this point (further confirmed by the RUE MORGUE standalone), but I'm not particularly savvy with who may have rights to these things.

I'm basically trying to assess the sets that I have and seeing which titles I need to keep them for at this stage.

I think we're down to these (though I don't expect Scream to release them all, and the 50s sci-fi titles at least would almost certainly get singles releases):

Murder by the Clock
Secret of the Blue Room
The Mystery of Edwin Drood
The Missing Guest
The Monster and the Girl
The Mystery of Marie Roget
Flesh and Fantasy
Captive Wild Woman
Jungle Woman
Jungle Captive
The Cat Creeps
The Spider Woman Strikes Back
The Black Castle

Curucu, Beast of the Amazon
Curse of the Undead
The Thing That Couldn't Die
Cult of the Cobra
The Incredible Shrinking Man
