So... what’s the best blu ray release? The Scream Factory? Those extras look hard to beat. Is it the same transfer as Arrow’s? I do love my Arrow Video.

I’m watching this for the first time right now on Amazon Prime, and halfway through it I can tell I want to own it on BD.

Easily one of Scream Factory's best all-around releases.

The Arrow release does have some great exclusive extras, though, so...

Keep in mind that it's region-B only, though.

It may have been the thing in the 50's to overscore thrillers, but I just cannot accept the almost constant musical tension build up for EVERY scene, that never dies down. That just doesn't work for me. When I first saw the original, when I was 10, the images were enough to make the movie compelling. These many years later, my tastes have changed. I certainly appreciate good movie scores. This score is distracting.

After the Dick Van Dyke show, I simply cannot accept Richard Deacon in anything but a comedic role.

I'll be donating my DVD copy of the original to the public library.
I feel the same way about SPARTACUS. The North love music just seems so OTT that it kills the movie for me. The last time I enjoyed SPARTACUS, I actually watched it with the sound off except for battle and training scenes.

Back on topic, my mother named me after Kevin McCarthy (who the hell knows why), but I have always favored the Kaufman 78 by a large margin, and rewatch it at least every year. To me it sums up the '70s political paranoia stretch of films (PARALLAX, CAPRICORN and the like) perfectly, while also being one helluva good love story, perhaps my alltime fave in that dept., tied with THE AGE OF INNOCENCE and maybe THE DEAD ZONE.

watched this on Amazon Prime. Hmm, I found it rather cheesy and not too scary. Brooke Adams and Veronica Cartwright's acting didn't seem convincing and how the aliens were spreading wasn't explained pretty well. Maybe I should give it another watch though.

I'm an extremely paranoid person, so I found this movie to be scary as f***.

This is one of my favorite SF releases. I love this movie, and when I saw it I was so surprised that something this good came out in the 70s. It just feels so modern, and the relationship between Jeff Goldblum and Leonard Nimoy is fantastic. And SF put out a beautiful package with the slipcover, it's one of my faves.

I'm just not that fond of 70s movies... I prefer 80s/90s, just my jam.

To each their own but personally I think the 70's is one of the best decades of film.

So is mine. Invasion Of The Body Snatchers, The Exorcist, The Omen, The Changeling, Audrey Rose, Carrie, The Fury, Clockwork Orange, Alien, Jaws, Star Wars, Demon Seed, Soilent Green, Rollerball, The Andromeda Strain, coma, Close Encounters Of The Third Kind, Network, Three Days Of The Condor, The Conversation...
...And I'm sure I'm forgetting some favourite of mine from the 70's that for me are much better than most movies made in the 1980's, a decade I despise.
