520k for RGG3 before "The Best" would be superb and very close to Yakuza 2 full price sales.

I wonder if Demon's Soul can sell 100K, that would be incredible as the game was undershipped, scored low on famitsu and Sony didn't market it at all.

Wink Take-Two: GTAIV Sales Split Almost 50/50 Between PS3/360

Not Japanese only, but didn't know where else to post it. Considering the user base gap and 360 getting exclusive content, I'd say PS3 came out with the "W".

Quote:
When assessing the current console battle, one can always point towards top multiplatform sellers - when the product is mostly identical in quality across the competing consoles - as being good indicators. In this way, it's very interesting to hear about the massive accumulated sales for Grand Theft Auto IV, and how they're split between the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Well, they are split, apparently...almost right down the middle. We don't have the exact numbers but we do have the word straight from the horse's mouth, so-to-speak. During a conference call where Take-Two Interactive reviewed their first-quarter financial results, one analyst asked, "...can you give us an idea as to this 13 million GTA 4 units, how many of those are Xbox 360 platform? So what's the addressable market for the downloadable The Lost and Damned." In reply to the first question, Take-Two CFO said, "It's approximately 50/50, Ed." So, roughly, one can assume that the PS3 and 360 versions of GTAIV each sold equally well, which further begs the question: is it really sensible to have exclusive downloadable content? The current rumor concerning this very subject is that The Lost and Damned will eventually find its way to the PS3, but not until some time next year. GTA fans that are also PS3 owners and who don't own a 360 aren't happy about the situation, but there's little we can really do about it. Take-Two is obviously aware of the split in sales regarding the PS3/360 versions of GTAIV, so maybe now that it's staring at them in black and white, they'll do something about it.

As for the split itself, one has to remember that when the game launched in late April of last year, the user base gap between the PS3 and 360 was very large, and Sony certainly hadn't sold 22 million units as they have now. Therefore, it stands to reason that perhaps the blockbuster franchise garnered most of its fans during its exclusive PS2 days, and that remaining lot has caused the 50/50 split despite the PS3/360 gap (which is closing, but still separated by about 7 million units). It's just a theory, though. If you want to read the entire transcript for Take-Two's earnings call, feel free...it's a little long, but still interesting for business-oriented minds.

Default Resident Evil 5 PS3 ousells 360 4 to 1 in Japan!!!

Capcom’s Resident Evil 5 has sold almost 400,000 units in its first week on sale in Japan, with the PlayStation 3 version hitting the number one spot with 312,000 unit sales. The Xbox 360 version also performed well at number three, with 79,000 units sold.

Known in Japan as Biohazard, the first week totals for the latest entry in the long-running series are higher than for Resident Evil 4. However, they are significantly lower than the 1 million unit + debuts of Resident Evil 2 and 3 on the original PlayStation.

The second fastest seller of the week is Sega’s new role-playing game 7th Dragon on the Nintendo DS. The game has been developed by Luminous Arc creators ImageEpoch and overseen by the director of Etrian Odyssey.

New at number seven is Tecmo’s Aibou DS, a tie-in to a popular Japanese TV detective drama, with 43,000 units sold.

Also new at number eight is Namco Bandai’s Super Robot Taisen Z Special Disc on PlayStation 2. Featuring new missions and units, the latest entry in the long running tactical role-playing series sold 28,000 units.

The final new entry of the week, with 14,000 units sold, is a new iteration in Konami’s The Prince of Tennis sports simulation and anime tie-in series. The new Nintendo DS title focuses on female characters, with a version subtitled Boys, Be Gracious! due out later this month.

Musou Orochi Z just got released in Japan and it sold 79K first week, so it should be number 1 in the coming week and sell 100K+ and it should be #1 for the week, Resident Evil 5 should drop to about 60K and Yakuza 3 to about 20K and they should all chart in the Top 10 if those predictions are correct.

3. NDS Picross (Nintendo)
4. PSP Shin Sangoku Musou Multi Raid (Koei)
5. NDS Mario & Luigi RPG 3!!! (Nintendo)

9. NDS 7th Dragon (Sega)
10. WII Wii Fit (Nintendo)
Very nice, 3 PS3 titles in the top 10!

Numbers in the next couple of hours hopefully, but the relatively unreliable M-C preview blog has got this:

Quote:
1. Musou Orochi Z - ~100K
2. PS3 RE5 - ~80K / ~400K
3. Picross DS - ~30K
4. Mario & Luigi 3 - ~30K
5. Musou: Multi-Raid - ~30K / ~300K
Nice second week for RE5 on PS3 and decent start for Orochi Z! Going by its position RGG3 has probably done around 20k this week as it's just above MHP:2G

That looks much more reasonable for RE5. 25k week for RGG3, looks like it could show some decent legs...
