I refuse to throw money at a dead format. I will wait for Paramount to go Blu again. I have not supported Universal for some time now; I can add Paramount to the list.

Most of the good titles are coming from Blu studios anyway which justified my purchase of a PS3. I barely have enough in the budget for these. So, I don't have money to waste on new hardware just for one or two movies.

I can not wait around any longer hoping some movies will go blu. Sure, V for Vendetta is, but a lot of great movies I really want won't for a LONG time. I need the Bourne movies, and a lot of others, especially if Over the Hedge and other Dreamworks movies go to HD. Format neutral is the way to go, as there won't be a winner for a few years at the very least. Time to start buying an Hd player and some HDDVDs (no longer HD Duds)

people like you are the ones who keep this format war going, you are in NO WAY helping it at all.......I'm sticking with the format that has the majority of the studio support (majority is the key word there). and that is.....last time I checked.....Blu-Ray!

I was kind of thinking that. I mean a lot of these movies on DVD are SO CHEAP. Target had Batman Begins for like 7$ and a ton of other movies. So I can see why some people may buy certain titles in DVD for now. Prolonging the war is a bad thing though. In the end I wonder how much company buyouts can actually fight against sales numbers.

While I'm extremely angry at Paramount and will likely no longer purchase any of their titles for a long time to come, we need to shrug this off and move on. Just remember, the HD DVD crowd has been receiving this type of news almost weekly and it hasn't diminished their fervor.

This is probably the only bad news BR has had since November of 06. HD DVD has had disc problems, no Uni announcements at CES, Chinese player myth evaporate, never winning a week in sales, loss of Denon, loss of Target, loss of BJs, and the loss of Blockbuster. Just last week reports came in they are losing the lead in standalone sales and it looks like they are about to lose Weinsteins exclusivity.

While this is not good news, the fact that we have yet to have any bad news for BR has made us a bit spoiled. Be thankful this wasn't Warner and remember that Fox and Disney would almost certainly never switch since HD DVD wouldn't include features they are most concerned with.

Transformers being HD DVD exclusive is enough to make me neutral. I was considering it with the Bourne trilogy and Battlestar Galactica, but now it's a no brainer. Anybody wanting to call HD DVD a dead format, well, it's time to wake up. It's gonna be around longer than any of us thought.

I agree, plus the fact Hellboy 2 and the Hulk in 2008 are Universal.

The underlying pinning of HD-DVD strategy is simple: use Microsoft's money.

I can't help but feel sorry for those who lack the courage to do what is right.

It is one of my great disappointments with today's society. People just 'accept' garbage when they can demand better.

Next time you look at yourself in the mirror look closely. You may see that you have simply turned into a cow that is herded any direction the money wants you to go. You have lost all of your conviction, ambition and free thought. You have become a slave.

Someone who would willingly accept sub-par technology and lower standards just because 'they can't live without transformers' is the lowest form of life. To me anyway. It disgusts me that one would sacrifice things that will affect millions of other people for years to come over such materialistic and small matters.

It's not about Blu-ray or HDDVD. It's about the lying and misinformation and the behind closed doors deals. Why do you think they didn't publish how much they got paid in that press release? Is it because it would damage the worthiness of the news? Would it change the message drastically? Yes.

Demand better. Have the conviction to stand behind it. As an individual you do make a difference because when individuals begin to stand before long you have an army. It's what wins wars and supports freedom.

It is a matter of having the better product (Blu). M$ and Toshiba are desperate, and that is ok! There is no question that Blu will prevail.

It's just a statement of idealism. No one can live to a perfect standard, including myself. I have given up more times than I can ever remember but everytime I think back I have regretted it or felt disgusted by it.

I'm simply giving the idealistic view for others to consider.

proteus your posts are inspiring. You almost made me cry lol. Seriously though, proteus is right, 'it is better to die standing than to live a life on your knees' quote from Pancho Villa. We cant let Transformers make us quit our exclusive support for blu. This is way bigger than just 'Transformers'. This is about showing those evil corporations *cough* *microsoft*, that an individual can make a difference.

as the starter of this thread, i now feel kind of bad

you all have convinced me to hold off for a little while, simply because I am a college student and can't just buy anything I want whenever, but if I had money I would be all over the 'fence' right now

as it is, I will just wait until all the Christmas sales numbers come out to make a final decision...don't worry, I still support blu...but the fact is that some of my favorite movies are only on hddvd

luckily, with Spiderman 1-3 coming out, and V for Vendetta, as well as a few other good titles, I will be holding off for a little longer....

after reading these posts, I do realize that Sony WILL DO SOMETHING to counter this, a multi-million dollar deal with somebody (perhaps Universal ), because Sony has invested too much to just give up. it won't be long before we hear a big announcement from Sony about A: a price drop on movies, B: amazing titles from the other companies, C: exclusive rights with their current companies, or D: all of the above...

in retrospect, I am kind of excited...i did not like this Paramount news earlier...but now....it has made me realize HDDVD may have just screwed themselves because Sony is going to come back firing.

Neutral studios: Questionable all along.

Paramount was one, and now they've accepted enough money to make them Microsoft's slaves (and I'd use another word if I wasn't a white boy).

Today they crapped right on every customer that bought one of their Blu-ray discs, and especially had them on pre-order. It is one of the most anti-consumer moves ever made.

"Take your money and shove it, Microsoft gave us more."

Exactly my thought even with Tranformers HD DVD that is about the only movie I would buy on HD DVD. I will get Transformers on DVD, hey DVD has done me well for ten years it will continue to do well for me for another 3-4 yrs.
