Thanks, I didn’t notice that. I’ll have to watch it again.

Yeah I guess it’s a different origin/universe, it’s just me.

This remake/boot thing is starting to become too norm imo, and mass audience is just going to keep watching and eating popcorn... And disney is leading the way

Its even more apparent in streaming where almost all old film or books are turned into show

Don't give Disney any ideas.

We may well end up with a PG-rated musical with an Alan Menken soundtrack in which intelligent teen apes have trouble integrating into a formerly all-human high school and are all brought together in the end with a performance of a high school play.

Also the apes are referred to as Simian-Americans.

Thank you for making me make coffee come out of my nose with this classic line: Simian-Americans. Then, there will be a protest staged by apes everywhere around the world.

KILLING ME!

I think you just gave Disney their idea.

How original. These reboots/remakes are becoming ridiculous. We've just had a trilogy and the Burton film before that. Put it down for a while. With Disney behind it it'll end up some mutation somewhere between Jungle Book and Tarzan.

I'd assume it'd be a Sequel since the previous three did amazingly well with most people. But if it backfires I do have those 3 to watch and only watch aside from the Original.

Unpopular opinion here but I didn't like War. It was good but after how incredible Rise and Dawn were I was expecting more. There was hardly a "War" in that film.

0% chance this film is better than War. In fact I just hope this film actually doesn't come to fruition. War was the perfect ending.

Yeah I think War is one of the most depressing big budget movies I've ever seen.

You can forget Andy Serkis or any mo-cap for that matter. It will be all CGI ala Lion King.

Serkis is amazing in Rise. That's the only reason to watch Rise. Dawn and War is where it's at. Rise is neat for the Apes but it's really stupid.

I thought Rise was excellent, then Dawn was pretty good, and War was oh okay, this is a good enough way to wrap it all up

Dawn is easily the best of the trilogy IMO.

I don't mind the bleakness of War, but it felt like it was retreading over a lot of the same ground that Dawn covered. And it's just too long. (Gorgeously shot, though.)

Rise is a fun popcorn flick. Weakest of the three but not bad.

Rise was a great first film in the trilogy. Dawn was incredible and blew me away the first time I saw it in theaters. War was a good movie but couldn't live up to Dawn. It was a very satisfying ending but the titles of Dawn and War should have been swapped.

Huge fan of the re-booted Apes films. In fact, I feel Rise, Dawn, and War are some of the best sci-fi films ever made, and I find these far superior to the original franchise in every way.

However, the news about these new films is confusing. In some places, I'm reading these will be re-boots, which seems they will ignoring the existing continuity.

In others, I'm reading these will be sequels to 2017's War for the POTA.

So, which is it?

Personally, I would prefer a sequel to War instead of starting the series over from scratch. At this point, War is only two years old, and it seems ridiculous to re-boot a recent franchise that was so well received & where a series of sequels could easily be made.

I hope the gorillas will have better representation in the new film.

My hope is that they follow Matt Reeves idea and move ahead a few decades or even centuries in the timeline. The legend of Caesar has been passed on for generations to the point where varying interpretations of it exist, with apes beginning to divide into opposing factions, some being more reasonable like Caesar and wanting to coexist peacefully with any remaining humans while others want to wipe them out. The conflict could be between the differing factions and we could see the origins of The Lawgiver and the religious fervor that would eventually try to cover up the truth about apes and man.

Or it could be a family friendly musical. Who knows?

I would love to see Mouse Guard! Looks awesome...Love Planet of the Apes and am Nostalgically fond of the 4 that followed... Loved Burton's Planet of the Apes...was disappointed in a lack of a sequel...liked Reeves Trilogy but not as much as the Original or Burton's Remake...I'd take another remake, and instead of the Statue of Liberty at the end as the climax, we can have George Taylor fall to his knees in an abandoned Disney World Theme Park lol.
