Two are from the smaller deal and one from the large one. If these do well, we plan to add some more 4KUHD releases to our slate.

Yeah, I think everyone would love that, but I'm thinking that might still out of reach. Scream Factory got a deal, but it was only for a certain type of film. I would love to see Paramount open up the doors as that studio probably has the most amount of titles that people want that haven't gotten Blu-ray releases yet.

If you do any new deals with MGM (or already have one in place/in the works), I hope that you consider Pieces Of April ('03) for a BD upgrade.

It costs them four to five time more to release a Blu-ray, don't ask me why, but it does. Also, some of these smaller titles are not worth their time, 1500 to 2000 units maybe okay with some of the boutique labels, but not the major studios.

Not sure what you mean by missing bonus features, all their extras are usually available to their licensees.

Sorry, but we're not interested in it. More of a DVD title.

Can't wait! I'll buy any 4K disc you guys release (unless it's The Adventures of Pluto Nash).

Great list! I'm definitely looking to pick up The Long Goodbye, One Two Three, and The Ox-Bow Incident. I've also got my eye on The Big Country. I haven't seen it, but I love Wyler and his other big western, The Westerner, and the special edition looks fantastic.

KL Insider, I've been so happy with Kino's releases of classic Paramount titles like Easy Living, The Spoilers, Pittsburgh, Reap the Wild Wind, I Walk Alone, Desert Fury, etc., etc., and I'm looking forward to adding Supernatural, The General Died at Dawn, The Ghost Breakers, and others to my library.

I'd like to ask you about a few other titles that I'm hoping Kino might be considering:

Private Worlds (1935)
Union Pacific (1939)
The Strange Love of Martha Ivers (1946 - using the materials Paramount Home Video used for their superior DVD release)
Sorry, Wrong Number (1948)
The Mating Season (1951)

Thank you for any news you might be able to share.

Finally decided on my order:

"Marty" is a re-buy. It was one of my first Kino purchases, I had sold it off for the Eureka release but I was disappointed that the Eureka release is missing a scene.

Superb news. Long live physical media. Thanks for all the great releases and sales this year. If the first three months are any indication, 2020 from Kino Lorber is going to be another great year of superb films.

The only one of these we acquired through Paramount was I Walk Alone, the others were through Universal, who control most of Paramount's 1930-1949 films. The two 30s titles are with Universal, the two 40s and one 50s are with Paramount. We don't have any of them. The Mating Season may need some legal clearance.

Seeing a Betty Grable title there in the EOTD link makes me wonder again why we never ever got a home video release of How To Be Very Very Popular, the pseudo-sequel to How To Marry A Millionaire which I have I think in German taped off tv many years ago which I remember not being very good but I would love to see it at some point!

I have always wondered if a BLU for PIECES Of APRIL would ever get a release.

I always think of it as the forgotten but well reviewed THANKSGIVING film, that is a good Katie Holmes double feature with THE ICE STORM.

pieces_of_april.jpg

Does OLIVE still do MGM titles? I could almost see them doing a BLU for it?

or maybe MVD ?

Yes. Granted, Olive titles have almost ground to a halt.

Speaking of 4K UHDs, I’m wondering if Kino would’ve done them for RoboCop and The Terminator if they were able to license them (like they supposedly tried before Arrow and possibly Shout got them, respectively).
