Yeah I never understand the UOT crowd. George Lucas was limited by technology when making the movies. If he wants to go back and make changes, he has every right to. Even Tolkien had to go back and change small sections of The Hobbit after The Lord of the Rings was finished. I don't see people clamoring for the original Hobbit versions.

Almost right. More like "fan fact".

EDIT: Perhaps I was mistaken. I could have sworn at one point that it was confirmed there were differences on the AOTC DVD even from the digital film projections, but it must have just been random speculation at one point that has since been debunked. I was 14 when I saw this, I'm pretty sure both times Digital, and the first showing was such a snooze fest at points that I remember struggling to even stay awake.
It's the film prints and the digital cinema version which had the differences with Anakin's robo hand and Padme's hilariously stilted reply of 'YES!' when a clone aks if she's alright after falling from the gunship, it was changed to a more winded-sounding 'uh-huh'. The DVD was basically the digital version carried over. And then Lucas tweaked it some more for the Blu-ray despite us being told that all this digital technology would help Lucas to achieve his creative vision the first time around, when the reality is that the man cannot help but tinker with his work.

By this logic, do you consider that Aliens, Blade Runner 2049 etc are also fan fiction? (I think it’s fine if you do, just curious to how this extends).

I agree with your point but Blade Runner and BR2049 are both penned by Hampton Fancher.

Assuming you can get your hands on them, of course. Easier said than done.

The lack of any real HDR didn't bother me, but there's DNR and EE galore.
That’s a load of shit. The Disney+ transfers of the OT look miles better than the increased contrast and DNR smearing of the 2011 Blu-ray’s.

What’s on D+ is the closest representation of the original color grading of the OT.

Don’t listen to others. You’re better off checking them out on your own through Disney+. Also, Disney didn’t remaster the new transfer of the OT. They’re the ones George Lucas did back in 2012 when preparing for its 3D re-release.

No, no it’s not a load of shit.

There is 100% DNR and edge enhancement throughout sections of all of the original films.

This is not only reported by me, but by others as well.

I don’t know how it compares to prior blu-ray releases; But by UHD standards, they do not look great.

Average is pretty much the best these films’ masters look like on UHD for Disney+

Yep. They might be better than the BDs, but they still look like shit. Not interested in this box set because of that.

Always hilarious when someone tries to discredit what you’re saying, even though what you’re saying is right.

If Disney used the masters that are on their streaming service, then these UHDs will receive the same criticisms that stuff like Thor and IM1 received.

There’s also less of an HDR application compared to those films.

These transfers of the prequels, and the special editions versions, are going to make for an even greater cluster f**k of a commercial situation. Which is going to further entrench a RESISTANCE movement towards Disneys Star Wars, because of Lucas entrenched attitude.

As if it wasn't already inevitable enough that the hardcore fan base will eventually have a UHD project for the theatricals with Dolby Vision. Disney are going to scramble all squads of lawyers when that hits the internet.

And the terrible line Luke now says in Empire: You were lucky to get out of there.
The original line was so much better: You're lucky you don't taste very good.
