Yes, please cry foul that I’m shouting “first!” like I beat you “I need to be heard, too!” types by a mere few seconds when the post time stamps clearly show a large gap in time between the posts. The first step to fixing the problem of believing you’ll disappear if you’re not heard every five seconds is admitting you’re afraid you’ll disappear if you’re not heard every five seconds.

This is one of the worst films of the year.

This was like watching one of those super shitty early-2000s Steven Segal films.

I can’t believe that Stallone thought this script was good enough to warrant another Rambo film. If this was the best they could come up with, they should’ve left it alone after the very solid 2008 film.

This one looks dirt cheap. Ugly. Low budget. Just outright garbage.

Lionsgate does everything they can with this disc encoding wise, but the camera and lens sources just make this one of the uglier looking films of 2019. You can’t polish a turd, as they say.

Watched it last night (first time) and really enjoyed it.

Stallone’s dialogue is as indecipherable as ever, but who cares? It’s all about the snuff.

Good film!

Just finished watching this.

Let me just say to everyone bashing this film your opinion sucks.

This movie is the definition of revenge.

Anyone got their hands on one of the international discs? I noticed on the back of the Australian edition yesterday that there was a longer special features list, but that might just be the 50 min thing from the Lionsgate US disc split into separate featurettes.

That's for the Rambo: Last Blood (Extended Cut) coming sometime next year.

I thought that intro was important and that they shouldn't have cut that. They will probably re-release Rambo Last Blood as a Home Alone edition extended cut down the line with that intro in like they did with Rambo theatrical and extended cut because you know they want that double dip money.
Why?

The women trafficked saved by Rambo? He offered them a way out, but **** it.

You got to see a total bloodbath at the end, and the way the criticism went I was expecting nothing but exposition leading up to the end.

What's up with reviewers nowadays?

Add this to the list of films sitting at less than 40% on most review outlets that ends up way better than you'd imagine. There's no way in hell that this film should have a score of 23% on RT.

Critics are beginning to serve no purpose in my opinion when it comes to the audience being on a complete end of the spectrum.

It's not adding up.

Yes, review here: http://michaeldvd.com.au/Reviews/Reviews.asp?ID=11925

Whereas the Lionsgate release bundles together the production diary featurettes, the Roadshow disc just includes separate featurettes with no "Play All" function. Nothing is added.

Kind of odd, but not the end of the world I suppose. Great review as always, thanks.

I respected your opinion until the last paragraph. I think your hatred of the movie is influencing you there, because the UHD looks really nice.

As bad as Rambo Last Blood was, 47 Meters Down Uncaged (at least in my opinion) is still way worse though.

No, it's not influencing me at all.

There are plenty of films that I both dislike, and own, that have fantastic video and/or audio transfers.

And it's not even that I implied that there's anything wrong, per se, with the transfer/compression and overall encoding itself. Just that the many different sources used on the film do lead to the occasional anomaly. For instance, there are a couple of drone shots that either look mildly pixelated, or have straight up banding in the skies. But that's always going to be a mixed bag with drone shots and how they are handled.

But the film itself is just incredibly ugly and cheap to look at. Camera angles are basic, no interesting compositions, over-saturated sepia tones (I don't know if this is still an issue with RED over-saturating certain color tones, or just bad color grading), bad lighting, etc.

It's one of the cheaper looking films on the format. Other than intentional genre stuff like 'Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich' or 'Mayhem'--this is one disc that no matter how you chalk it up, looks bad because of how poorly shot it is.

I would gladly trade this disc in to Lionsgate if it would help get US releases for 'Midsommar' and 'The Lighthouse'.

I saw it on sale at Wal-mart and the wife wanted to pick it up, glad we didn't bother after reading this! Might not even be worth renting.

You should watch The Mechanic 2. It's horrendous looking.

Anyway I agree this was just slightly above direct-to-video b-movie level. I got a kick out of it anyway, but it's certainly nowhere close to the last one in quality. And I agree it's odd Stallone would "taint" the franchise like that when he's handled Rocky so differently, but... who knows.
