You don't get it, most other people don't get it. Nor have they read The Hero With A Thousand Faces most of them.
Only he didn't, did he? As I said in my first post (still waiting for a response of substance to the points I made), one of my big issues with TLJ is how it apes the plot beats of ESB just like TFA apes ANH.

For example:

After blowing up the enemy's superweapon, our heroes are tracked to their secret base as they stage an emergency evacuation. They are able to successfully escape from the planet and thwart the enemy's plan, but no less desperate as they are chased through space. While our lead seeks Jedi training from an old, reclusive Jedi master, the other heroes seek help from a debonair but questionable contact, who subsequently double-crosses them. Our lead flies straight back into the action in an attempt to confront our lead villain and causes our heroes to be able to escape about the Millennium Falcon, but not without suffering devastating losses. Also our heroes are assaulted by giant Imperial walkers on a white planet in the movie.

Tell me please whether I was talking about TLJ or ESB

My best guess at disc breakdown:

The Phantom Menace- Disc 1 and 2, Blu-ray/UHD feature film

Attack of the Clones- Disc 3 and 4, Blu-ray/UHD feature film

Revenge of the Sith- Disc 5 and 6 Blu-ray/UHD feature film

A New Hope- Disc 7 and 8, Blu-ray/UHD feature film

The Empire Strikes Back- Disc 9 and 10, Blu-ray/UHD feature film

Return of the Jedi- Disc 11 and 12, Blu-ray/UHD feature film

The Force Awakens- Disc 13 and 14, Blu-ray/UHD feature film with Disc 15, Blu-ray bonus features

The Last Jedi- Disc 16 and 17, Blu-ray/UHD feature film with Disc 18, Blu-ray bonus features

The Rise of Skywalker- Disc 19 and 20, Blu-ray/UHD feature film with Disc 21, Blu-ray bonus features.

Discs 22-24 could be the same bonus feature discs from the 2011 release.

Which leaves three discs left over from the 27-disc set.

I know it’s a pipe dream and a stretch but what if those last three discs are the UOT?

But then I have bigger fish to fry and don't have time to worry about this.
I've watched the changed versions so many times at this point I almost wonder if I'd miss them if I watched the originals. Honestly there's only a handful of changes I hate, the top one being "Jedi Rocks." A lot of the rest I've grown to like, or were never a big deal in the first place, like the wampa or the ropes on Han's legs, respectively.

That said the original versions should absolutely be preserved and available and it's a crime against cinema they are not (legally).

I'd be surprised if legacy bonuses get ported over. They want you to have to hold onto the sets you've already purchased, so that people aren't flooding the secondary market.

I apologize; I thought you were piggybacking off of a different post. I realize now you weren't.

I'm not saying this was your intent, but it's frequent in my experience, that specific criticisms of TLJ remain unaddressed and it's instead a race to speculate (very uncharitably) about why theoretical TLJ "haters" hate the movie, as though there weren't several clear reasons just given that have nothing to do with someone's childhood hero worship.

It's odd.

Uhuuuh. The Last Jedi follows George Lucas main inspiration for Star Wars. The Hero With A Thousand Faces.

So Rian shackled by FA, bored by the same derivative direction said ok George. Let's honestly explore the hero archetypes, and your world of Star Wars in which they inhabit, if I can't make my own Star Wars.

It's like Leone when he was bored of Westerns, feeling he was tied to convention just went f**k it. And went anti matter on the genre with Once Upon A Time In The West. Having Fonda playing aganist his usual paragon of justice type. Which can't be understood today how shocking it was seeing him gun down that family in cold blood. And people cry over Luke tossing his lightsabre? Lol

So those criticisms you make are atchually all part of Rian analysing Lucas legacy. Poor direction, stiff and clunky dialogue ect ect. Sacrificing his golden boy Luke as means to allow greater creative freedom for the future.

The sub plot with Rose and Finn I do wonder if it's all Rian. But I just find it funny it got past etheir way. Your ethnic minority characters going to a greedy planet thats totally not an allegory for Disney where children and animals are exploited.

I didn't make any of those criticisms. It's as if you didn't read what I said. I wrote that Luke was one of the few things in TLJ I didn't have a problem with. But poor direction, on the other hand, is something very much evident in TLJ. I suppose that's his homage to Lucas.

I appreciate your trying to find some genius in the subplots but it just ain't there. Written and directed by Rian Johnson. It's all him, baby.

Just wanted to say that your dramatic and cultural literacy is refreshing (and that's not a statement on any other post here other than this one.)

So you don't think this is Rian critiquing Lucas idea of heroes and their world?

What, VHS tapes?! Or the 2006 dvds with the old non-anamorphic laserdisc transfers? Who's complaining?

Thankfully, there are the amazing fan made 4K77 and 4K83 (and 4K80 hopefully soon) transfers available out there to scratch that OT itch in high definition.

You can get the Grindehouse scan for ESB until such time when 4K80 is ready.

I don’t think there is any mystery to the set breakdown, the product description says each film comes with its own bonus disc so that is 3 discs for each film which is 27 discs total.

The DVDs. My point is they are still out there. They may not be perfect, but it ain't a perfect world.

If I had it my way the discs would be:

12 4k Blu-rays - Including all 9 nine movies plus the original cuts for the OT.

12 Regular Blu-rays - Including all the movies plus a good amount of Bonus features pertaining to each film

3 Bonus Blu-rays - Including all the documentaries and other bonus features that wouldn't fit on the other Blu-rays
