Honestly I would prefer that sleeved look to the ones we are getting for star wars. And the whole entire disc is in a sleeve. And those one a are typically more of an annoyance to get out. And in my experience are far harder to get them where the discs are more damaged than you would see with ones like those.

For instance I've bought the Friday the 13th complete bluray set that's long out of print, Spiderman trilogy set that had 3.1, Indiana Jones set, and a few others and they are the absolute worst in my experience and opinion.

Whereas book/sleeved sets like the original complete saga set, alien quadrilogy set with the extras, and the Criterion Godzilla set while not always perfect for disc protection or the discs being new out of the box as you would expect from normal cases. They still tend to come out better than the ones we are unfortunately getting for the Skywalker saga set

Right, which is why I said it's going to look funky with dat Lowrysauce on top.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Well, I am an ally anyways. There are literally dozens of us!!

That’s unfortunately what it looks like though, based upon the one interior pic we have.

I don't mind that half moon either. The Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection for instance while pretty is a damn pain in the @SS with its almost closed disc enclosures.

Yes indeed sir, yes indeed. There will hopefully be a cheaperer set in regular packaging but will Disnee release it alongside the limited edition boxset or wait six months to a year just so's they can soak as many of us as they can? Consider me well and truly drenched as I'm ordering the LE anyway.

Pretty much how I feel. I think it depends on your age though. We are around the same age, I was a huge fan of the OT growing up. I was 19 when PM came out and absolutely hated it. I tried to like it but aside from the fight scene I couldn't get into it. I hated the other 2 prequels too. I at least think the last 2 in the saga felt like Star Wars movies flaws and all. I don't think they are great but serviceable.

I grew up with the Prequels so I'll always enjoy them. I watch Episode I semi-regularly but hadn't seen II and III in at least a couple of years. Re-watching them over this past weekend was fun. (The new one got me in the mood, it's very Prequel-y.)

I love all three trilogies for different reasons.

The PT has the best and most cohesive visuals for me (and best music)
The OT has the best story and characters
The ST has some of the better acting and is very fun and energetic

I went and pre-ordered the UK set. While I'm not the biggest fan of the packaging with respect to easy access, I have a whole bunch of empty red cases from my HD-DVD days, so I'll put the 4K discs in those with some printed artwork. The set will stand out on the shelf nicely from all of the Blu.

It goes both ways, buddy. At least, George Lucas had a vision and a story, real characters, and all that jazz, whereas the new one is a cheap remake that actually renders the actual saga (I-VI) pointless, if you were to consider it SW canon, which I certainly do not, so I don't have an issue with it.
The Prequels are genius, thanks to George Lucas.

To each their own.

If you like/love the ST then that's fine. I think they are worthless pieces of crap, but that's my view.

I love I-VI. The Complete Saga.

I may get I-VI, if the PQ and AQ are far superior to the BD set, which I wouldn't bet my life on, since it's Disney we are talking about here.

Well TRoS is nowhere near as destructive to the franchise as Season 8 was to Game of Thrones, thankfully. So many franchises kinda died this year, tbh. 2019 was rough.

Dang, I made this snippet of an official TV spot for nothing.

I somewhat agree and disagree. Season 8 was definitely harder to get through, but it came after already bad seasons and I personally anticipated the show would end horrendously since season 4. I guess the difference was that while season 3-7 were bad they still were fun to watch, maybe except season 5.
While TRoS was bad, it wasn't hard to watch. It was kind of like watching a long episode of The Amazing Race. However it did come after two good films so it is kind of sad cause this trilogy could have been great had the last installment was on par with the previous two.

If you're going to use the Book Packaging, Princess Bride Criterion Style please!

Literally just this and I'll have no issues:

I grew up with the original movies that started it all back in 1977. However, I met my fiancee through Star Wars and went to 2 of the 3 prequel movies with them. So for me, the prequel trilogy is just as important and as good as the original ones. Aside from The Phantom Menace. Never going to be convinced that is anything other than an OK movie. I'll always have a special place in my heart for Star Wars. And that includes the prequels and sequels. I enjoy them for what they are alone. And not what they are compared to the originals.

Don't get me wrong. The originals place very high on my list, but even those movies really don't hold up too, too well if you start critiquing them. Like with the whole series, you have to just let that rational part of your brain and just watch. Some of the best movies have some of the dodgiest stuff in there. Very few movies are immune. Especially, these types of movies.

Hate to break it to you son, but there is no IF about it. The sequel trilogy IS canon. You can choose not to own them, like them, or accept them. But that doesn't change the fact that they're canon. And they don't render the "actual" saga pointless in the least. By the way, who or what determined IV-VI to be the "actual" saga? I've never heard that before.

Nothing has been announced. I've seen nothing on Blu-ray.com about it all. So far, all we've seen are some pre-order links and some vague details. Nothing has been announced officially.

Prequels have some form of artistic vision behind them even if often inept in its delivery. Disney star wars are soulless remakes.

Personally I didn’t find anything soulful about the prequels, excluding the final 20 minutes of ROTS.

For me they were lifeless, synthetic clones.

The Disney films that I’ve seen, as flawed as they are, both have genuine, spine-chilling moments.

Han’s demise in TFA and Luke winking at C-3PO as he walks out to meet Kylo.

...the latter is one of my favorite Star Wars moments.

Lucas is an auteur and juggles a lot of beautiful action, never found anything to like in jj's movies. also hate all the new characters so its hard to feel anything for them.
