I enjoyed this a lot, the PQ was fantastic and I thought the Atmos was pretty nice (the echo of the shotgun blasts through the tunnels was a really cool effect). And the action scratched my slasher movie fan itch.

BUT, there wasn't a lot to make it a true Rambo movie in my book. You could have cast Liam Neeson or Arnie and changed Rambo's name and it would have been the same movie.

As a gritty B-movie, it's top notch. But as a Rambo flick, I'd put it in fourth place just above Rambo III.

I'd put it above 3, just because I find 3 to be overall the weakest of the earlier films but totally agree that this really wet my slasher schlocky B-action movie whistle. The ending was over the top awesome, but the rest of it was pretty weak.

Don't even get me started on all of the other characters.

Definitely looks like the superior cut. I will probably get the German Version.

First Blood, Rambo, and Last Blood are all tied as my favorite. II and III are both pretty bad.

First Blood is best by far but otherwise, this. II and especially III are well made, but peppered with imperialistic chickenhawk fantasy flexing.

Dark Fate is a masterpiece compared to this.

First Blood
Rambo: First Blood Part II
Rambo III
Rambo
Rambo: Last Blood

My ranking is pretty boring, just order of release, lol. 5 is last by some margin for me though. Quality wise I’d probably put 4 ahead of 2 by just a hair but I find it to be the least entertaining besides the most recent one. 4 is very affective just also very depressing and never had much replay value for me. I appreciate the seriousness of it though. First Blood managed to be both very serious and wildly entertaining. Rare and great combination.

I admit I like Red Letter Media, but mostly for their Best of the Worst stuff. I also like some tech channels. But yeah, 90% of Youtube is trash. I don't judge younger generations, everything changes and that's normal, but I do worry how growing up with Youtube as their "TV" basically will change media.

My thoughts exactly. Always found ii and iii bordering on laughable.

Fingers crossed.

In the meantime, I can state that the Aussie Blu-ray looks really damn good. That bitrate almost always stays above 30 Mbps, and sometimes hits 40 Mbps. Texturally, it's not that far off the 4K. I'll happily hold onto it until the extended edition comes to 4K.
Does the Aussie version come with a slipcover? If not I can take my time to order once it goes down a notch.

There, I said it. Rambo Last Blood to me is the worst of the 5 films.

I grew up with Rambo First Blood Part 2 so that holds a special place in my heart and is my preferred version of the Rambo character as an action hero.

First Blood Part 2
First Blood
Rambo 2008
Last Blood
Rambo 3

I don't hate Rambo 3. I think it's a perfectly acceptable action movie but it suffers from 3-itis and is a bit of a chore to sit through. There's still some great scenes and a good score though.

I agree it feels nothing like a Rambo movie but disagree that it’s like a Western. The original trilogy was about updating the classic Western, Last Blood was just a poorly made exploitation film. Rambo 4 was more like Apocalypto than either.
