Second the breakneck pace of classics released on 4k does have me concerned. The accelerated rate we are getting big name releases likely means the studios don't have too much faith there is much potential left in 4k growth, otherwise they would wait for more potential buyers before unveiling the big guns like every other prior home video format. And all clumped together too which implies there is more concern to sell the discs quickly than maximize sales by reducing self competition through staggered release. Third some of the players getting out of the hardware market... Hopefully ps5 will help offset this somewhat though Xbox's support didn't seem to get it done. Disney owns so much of the content now that if they actually did pull out of 4k disc and focus on streaming it would immediately doom the format, so rumors like the above video combined with other factors in the marker definitely concerns me. |
