I'm a huge Rambo fan, and needless to say i enjoyed this a lot.

Props to Amazon. Ordered on the 19th December from the US, and it arrived on my doormat in the UK on the 24th, just in time for Christmas!

My only complaints were that it felt like quite a few scenes had been dropped on the cutting room floor in favor of getting a lean run time.
Why are there tunnels on the ranch? What is the back story of his niece and the old lady? What happened to his father? I'm not expecting a lot of back story, but a few simple snippets tying up some of the loose ends would have been nice.
i thought the film was brisk and brutal. My wife says it reminded her of Taken.

The UHD looks pretty good to my eye. Some poor green screen, but that can hardly be leveled at the disc. Some have criticized the audio. After the sonic assault that was the 2008 film, then i can't blame people for feeling short changed. This needed cranking a few notches on my system and i'd describe it as serviceable. Not note worthy in any way, which is a bit of a shame.

For all the criticism that this movie has got, i'm just glad it got made at all. In our current world of snow flakes, me too, and ultra PC etc, i'm happy that we still have the Stallone's of this world to exact old school revenge!

On another note, where can i get the international cut (101 min) on 4K UHD??
I know the regular Blu-ray is available in a few places, but what about the UHD? I don't want to import something only to find that its just the regular Blu which has the extended cut...

German release is looking like the only option so far. But it's currently awaiting confirmation as to whether it has English subtitles available for the scenes with Spanish dialogue (and there's an additional one of those in this version too). As it stands, the only release of the International cut on any format that's guaranteed English-friendly is the Australian BD.

Pretty much zero chance of English optional subtitles for the Spanish language sections though, right? From what I've seen, the majority of Italian discs only include Italian subtitles.

You sure about that? Cannot seem to find that info anywhere.
Anyway, we'll find out soon enough.

According to this site, the French, German and Italian UHD's are all listed at 101 mins, but only HDR10, and no DV, which the US UHD seems to have

The listings on this site are edited by its users, as a general rule, don't trust any information for releases that have not come out yet or has been confirmed. More often than not, the listed info is pure speculation, or in some cases flat out wrong.

I guess judging from the responses here many don't enjoy corny b movie revenge thrillers much. Separate this from the Rambo mythology and this movie is hilarious/entertaining.

I definitely rank the film higher than that. It's supposed to be a much smaller film. Stallone is a much older man. I think 4 is the last time we're ever going to see him run around in the jungle.

Planning a second blu viewing today.

I do find it hard to look at it objectively now as I was going in with such high expectations unfortunately, so I'm guessing a lot of how I feel must be clouded by that. But I love B action movies. Heck, I've even got a whole stack of Scott Adkins and Luke Goss ones I've been watching recently, and yeah, I've really enjoyed them. Definitely B but I enjoyed the stories. I'm trying to think though with Last Blood, and if this was say a Scott Adkins standalone non-franchise story, I still don't think I'd have enjoyed it. The whole setup for the "abduction" didn't appeal to me so when she was abducted, I had zero sympathy for her. The same result could have been done with say a kidnapping during an Acapulco spring break trip with friends, and then I'd be on her side more. And then the leads actions when they get to mexico. Get physically violent with a
[Show spoiler]lone woman and a lone sleazebag
, and then just stand about and get
[Show spoiler]made by the gang
, and just stand about and
[Show spoiler]get beaten up
. And then have a great plan of inviting them to your home,
[Show spoiler]set booby traps, and destroy your own property
? If this wasn't a Rambo movie, I don't think I've have liked it any better. I'm honestly sad they didn't have a better script. I've been finding this issue too often now where I see a low budget action or sci fi film and then a high budget one, and the low budget ones utterly KILL the big budget ones on scripts. I've seen recently some recent sci fi films. The two indie ones, Captive State and Revolt, had great stories and were really enjoyable. Ad Astra on the other hand...

I do need to wait a year and rewatch it with lower expectations though. Maybe it'd sit better.

Separating from the other Rambos, which were very different and "better," is what most people have a hard time doing.

I actually think if he had kept the long hair that would have gone some way to connecting the movie to the Rambo character and the prior films in general. Giving the character a new look in a new setting I think causes at least some of the disconnect for people.

My sense of disconnect stems from the utterly cinematic first four movies disintegrating the series into DTV level production values with this one. Add to that a script that seems like it was crapped out over a single feverish weekend and I find myself in utter denial that this is really a Rambo movie, let alone one worthy of playing off of the First Blood title.

So weird. I am sitting in the lobby at an Alamo Drafthouse right now and literally the second I clicked on this thread, some guys at a table near me started talking about Rambo movies.

While I'm certainly not trying to talk you out of your own reaction to the film, I on the other hand..... Let me put it this way. I'm a Steven Seagal fan and there are a half dozen or so of his DTV titles that I like quite a bit. Now, *those* are what I consider DTV production values. Last Blood is nowhere near that, certainly not in my opinion.

I don't think I've watched any of Seagal's DTV stuff, but something like Bautista's "Final Score" probably looked about as finished and expensive as this movie did.
