I thought I'd read that Times Square was due "early" in the year. Everything up through March 31st qualifies as early but I was hoping for it a bit sooner. Also, I'm hoping Kino considers licensing the 1993 TV miniseries The Fire Next Time since they deal with CBS/Viacom. A release would only make sense if it's on Blu-ray, though, as there's already a DVD but this deserves a nice special edition in HD.

Our use of vintage posters is not due to our heavy slate, when possible, everyone should use vintage poster art as the key art.

It's still a very expensive process, our masters for the 3-D films still cost us three to four times more than a regular one.

Coming March 24th!

RETURN FROM THE ASHES (1965)
• BRAND NEW 2K MASTER
• Optional English Subtitles
• Dual-Layered BD50 Disc
• Reversible Art
• Theatrical Trailer

(1965) B&W 107 Minutes 2.35:1 Not Rated
From J. Lee Thompson, the acclaimed director of The Guns of Navarone, Cape Fear, Taras Bulba, Eye of the Devil and The White Buffalo, comes this suspenseful thriller based on a novel by Hubert Monteilhet (Scoundrel in White) and adapted for the screen by legendary scriptwriter Julius J. Epstein (Casablanca, Arsenic and Old Lace, Cross of Iron). In Paris at the onset of WWII, wealthy Jewish doctor Michele (Ingrid Thulin, The Silence) marries Stanislaus (Maximilian Schell, Judgment at Nuremberg), a penniless yet cunning Polish chess master. She is later hauled off to Dachau and is assumed dead after her failure to return at the war’s end. But Michele is not dead after all, and returns to Paris under a new identity to find Stanislaus romancing her beautiful young stepdaughter (Samantha Eggar, The Light at the Edge of the World). Murderous twists and turns abound in this stylish Hitchcockian chiller that co-stars the great Herbert Lom (The Pink Panther Strikes Again).

Coming March 24th!

MY GUN IS QUICK (1957)
• BRAND NEW 2K MASTER
• Optional English Subtitles
• Dual-Layered BD50 Disc
• Theatrical Trailer

B&W 91 Minutes 1.85:1 Not Rated
Based on the bestselling novel by legendary pulp writer Mickey Spillane (I, the Jury, The Girl Hunters, Kiss Me Deadly), My Gun Is Quick is a hardboiled film noir starring Robert Bray (Never Love a Stranger) as the tough-talking, no-nonsense private eye Mike Hammer. After Mike defends a prostitute from a violent thug, he cannot help noticing a unique ring on her finger. Later, when she winds up the victim of an apparent hit-and-run accident, the ring is nowhere to be found. Mike suspects it’s cold-blooded murder, so he embarks on a search to find the ring and unravel the mystery surrounding the killing. Along the way, he meets a seductive widow and confronts a deadly gang of jewel smugglers. Co-directed by Victor Saville (The Silver Chalice, Kim, Green Dolphin Street), under the pseudonym Phil Victor, and George White (The Postman Always Rings Twice, The Naked Spur, Bataan), the only directing credit for the veteran Hollywood editor.

Based on the terrifying suspense novel by Agatha Christie, the legendary writer of Death on the Nile, Murder on the Orient Express, Witness for the Prosecution, The Mirror Crack’d and Ten Little Indians, Endless Night stars Hayley Mills (That Darn Cat!, Appointment with Death) as a wealthy heiress who moves into a magnificent dream house with her new husband. Agree 100%. The poster for Force 10 From Navarone, for instance, is epic and I'm very happy you're using it. If I saw copies of both your edition and the old studio-issued Blu with Harrison Ford's huge mug on a store shelf (hypothetical scenario) I would buy your edition even if it were more expensive. I seriously think choice of artwork could make or break a release these days.

Is the Leone set 5 discs or 6? If it’s 5 discs then one of the TGTBTU discs has been dropped.

The remaining Universal titles except for the 3-D and unconfirmed one should all be out by the Summer.

The collection includes the 162-minute theatrical cut, not the extended cut.

Don't need permission to use likeness if it's original marketing materials. It's new art you need permission for.

KL Insider,

Maybe my last question got lost in the shuffle while you folks were away, so I'm pasting it below. Thanks in advance!

Can you provide any insight into the rights situation(s) with Eisenstein's Que Viva Mexico! and Parajanov's Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors? The old DVDs from Kino seem to still be in print, but I remember reading somewhere that there was a possibility that the latter might be receiving a BD release from another label at some point (I'm assuming a BD of the former is probably doubtful). Will they remain available much longer? Are BD upgrades imminent (or even plausible)?
