Can armed robbery save a marriage? This comedy starring Natalie Wood, Peter Falk, Dick Shawn and Jonathan Winters debates this and other questions about modern relationships. Penelope (Wood) marries James Elcott (Ian Bannen) after a very brief courtship, and as his star rises in the banking business, he spends less and less time with her. Penelope devises what she thinks is a good plan to get James’ attention – disguising herself as an old lady and robbing his bank. Unfortunately, the robbery is successful, and now Penelope has bigger problems on her hands. Adding extra fizz to this effervescent caper comedy is buoyant and joyful music from John Williams’ early days as a film composer. Williams demonstrates his skills with pop and jazz in a score that includes the title tune, featuring lyrics by Leslie Bricusse (Victor/Victoria, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory).

Another nice surprise...like Underwater! from this batch, it has never been released on a legitimate DVD.

Hopefully Sex And The Single Girl will be released in the near future too.

This should be the vintage Edith Head featurette (which has been shown on TCM in the past):

It's nice to see they are including it on the blu-ray.

Why is the tag line (She Public Entertainment #1) larger than the actual title? I thought that was the title of the movie at first just looking at the cover...

Saw this on TCM some seven or eight years back. It's a middling comedy, but Natalie Wood looks great, and John Williams' sprightly score is one of his best "lite" comedy efforts from the 1960's.

The featurette looks rough but the trailer is in pretty good shape. I usually add YouTube links to Warner Archives' YouTube channel, but they did not post the trailer this time around.
