Ok, Uwe Boll is out to do a film on the genocide in the Sudan. Back in September 2008 I was originally contacted to write the script because I am not in a union yet and I am easy to exploit for getting a cheap ass script written. I am putting spoiler tags over the story as to not ruin it but then again I am sure you all do not care since it is Uwe Boll. All right the film is like this;
[Show spoiler] . That was it; the whole film. Uwe wrote a 7 page treatment and wanted it to around 2hrs. Now, this is where Uwe and I got into it because I wanted to establish the characters and where they were coming from and start the film on impending doom for this village. After I sent these parts over he went berserk and was like "NO!!! IT MUST TAKE PLACE IN THE VILLAGE!!!" and I was like "G' Damn." I finished the script and he rejected it and I was like; "Fine." But I can tell you that Boll was aiming out to get George Clooney act in his film and you know who he has in his cast for this film? EDWARD FURLUNG! He has not been popular since T2.So what about this script I wrote? I am currently tearing the story up bit by bit and I am re-working it into this real emotional piece that I plan to hopefully get some interest in over the next 5 years. If you have any questions, I will gladly answer them. |

The German economy has been rough on him since they closed that tax loophole. He can't find any funding for his videogame adaptions so he's pretty much taking up any directing job he can find. He even has a website up where you can donate $50 and get a Executive Producer credit for the film.

No, I was approached after the first time the laptop broke down when the DVD drive/burner had to be replaced.
Thanks, Gamma. I spent probably 20 pages adding development because when you write actions in a screenplay you get very limited after a while and just writing: "Man gets impaled with a spear. Baby gets beheaded by machete." You go on and you just really start to repeat yourself so I thought I would add more and add development but since I was adding in another village, an airplane, and a military compound; he couldn't budget it. |

He did/still does videogame adaptions that are in no way based off of the videogames he was adapting. Uwe was making films in Germany and came to the US and Canada to make films in 2000 after some of his films captured attention. He made several movies; Heart of America and Backwoods. Then he was asked if he would like to do House of the Dead. Now this is where it all comes into light.
I do not blame him for House of the Dead but I blame the writers and producers for giving a videogame adaption such a small budget of $6 Mill. There was limitations and no real house and the zombies are horrible. Then he became obsessed with videogame films and started buying up rights left and right; Alone in the Dark, BloodRayne, In the Name of the King, Postal, FarCry, and Zombie Massacre. From talking with Uwe, I know he attempted to get the rights to Syphon Filter and was real close to getting the rights but all fell apart in the last minute. Alone in the Dark was his second game adaption and it's better than House of the Dead but still junk. BLOODRAYNE is the worst out of all. In the commentary for Alone in the Dark, Boll explains that Germany has a tax loophole that will give you half of the budget back no matter what even if it flops. So really, when he's shooting a movie on a $20 mil budget, they are really only making it for $10 mil. Now, I started talking to Uwe in 2006 around the time when he was boxing the critics. But also in 2006, the German Tax Loophole was getting abused by American film studios and they closed so Uwe is pretty much screwed now and he cannot be financially secure with his movies. He has started going back and doing films that are not videogame adaptions. Seed; Janjaweed (which I wrote a draft too); Blackout; 1968: Tunnel Rats; Algonia; Stoic; Rampage (NOT THE VIDEOGAME!!!); and The Storm. He's directing these films and most of them are going straight to video so he can try to get money out of them for his videogame adaptions. I can tell you right now that he has BloodRayne 3; Alone in the Dark 3; and In the Name of the King 2 in the works. He was considering me to write a treatment for ITNOTK2 after Janjaweed. But that deal went south after the meltdown. Since Uwe's having money problems, he is even reaching out and begging to the public to donate $50 in return for an Executive Producer credit and an Autographed DVD Copy of Blackout. It is showing that he's on the breaking point. And here's an even more interesting tidbit about Janjaweed; they are making this small land area in Canada look like it's Darfur. I was like; "WTF? You couldn't go to South Africa?" But, hey the fake village looked decent in his Razzie Acceptance video which is on Youtube. |

And don't worry I he didn't take the script so I am re-working all of it and hopefully am going to make a very compelling drama. |

If you are worried about telling a compelling drama on a limited budget, then you should check out The Lower Depths by Kurosawa and the play of the same name. The entire film is shot in one location with very few shots.
There is a two-movie set, with Renoir's The Lower Depths, available on DVD from Criterion. |

Well, I'm currently getting ready to shoot two films in a 40 day period and we're doing it on a shoe string budget which I am still working over with the producers. I'm hoping that they make a profit so I can get around to making decent budgeted films.

You know, I took a lot of that into consideration because of the IMDB. Pretty much anyone who is affiliated with Boll gets black balled nonstop. But I was really thinking about myself because right now I am a broke ass college student and the pay sounded good for the script. I was planning on using the money to live and such even if that had meant a page on the IMDB of nothing but "YOU SUCK" or "YOU'RE A HORRIBLE FILMMAKER AND I COULD DO BETTER IN MY SLEEP" and so on.
