Yes, it effects projectors as well. From what I heard, you are right about the 100hz set, it will operate at 96hz, at least that is what I was told by a guy in one of the audio shops in Singapore. I was seeing a demo of a projector here (maybe benq but I do not recall) and they brought up the menu and could set it at 4:4 pulldown and it would not work at 5:5 pull down.

But he said the TV's were the same, sound better to the consumers to call it 100hz instead of 96hz. Though I can't say for sure
