Default Sony has released a 24p HD-tv and 100hz in the Netherlands

It is not 1080p though.

What do you guys think of those features? 24p and 100hz I mean.
I think the tv is 60fps normal, but when it gets 50fps material it switches to 100hz.
I think the same goes with 24p, when watching BD movies, it probably switches to 24p automaticaly or you can manually set it up or something, I dont know.
But the tv doenst support 1080p.
I dont think it will take long, till Sony releases 1080p tv's with these features.

Dutch model with 24p:

What do you guys think of the 24p and 100hz options?

My experience of 100Hz image processing on PAL CRT's is blurry quick-motion scenes including end-of-show credits. LCD's already give us some of that so things had better have moved on significantly since then, I don't think I ever saw a 100Hz set I was impressed with.

question:

Is 100 hz even important on HD?

I mean, for movies, you need 24fps.
And for games it is either, 30 or 60hz.

So is the 100hz option in the Sony tv's mentioned above even necesary? (for HD)

For areas in the world that use 50HZ video, 100HZ refresh rate is ideal. Now most likely this Sony LCD will refresh 1080P/24 material at 96HZ. So with BLU-RAY players that have a 1080P/24 ouput this set would be ideal.

Sounds great! Looks just like my XBR3 too. The thing I hate about my XBR3 is that when cameras pan, you see jittering. I wasn't sure if it was the PS3, or the TV itself. I heard a 24fps update for the PS3 would solve this though...

err not on all movie 24fps pans. Some 24fps pans will still judder. You can see this on a theater (48Hz refresh). just telling ya. 72Hz refresh or higher might smooth out 24fps pan judder a little but it's still 24fps frame rate. What 24p display refresh multiples playback does is eliminate any additional 3:2 start/stop judder added by a non 24 multiple 60Hz refresh rate which we'd have to live with in NTSC land for decades. And that happens in all motion ocurring on 24p material at all rates of image object movement. Even to ramdom 24fps grain!
