Yeah, after GvK they will start 2021/2022. I think they are ready to go, and are waiting till Nov. If Kong is successful they might let Legendary continue, and have possibly more access to other monsters.

He's been strangely off the grid since Rogue One.

Maybe because he didn’t want to come back.

Yeah, I remember the marketing of that one. Godzilla's everywhere, green banners and radiation logos. The opening week, while the movie itself kinda disappointing (I liked it though), was an event.

Yeah, while the film wasn't good, the teaser was awesome.
[Show spoiler]Imagine if they were making a Godzilla vs. Gamera film and pretty much remade this teaser with a Godzilla statue replacing the T-Rex skeleton and Gamera replacing "Godzilla".

I remember that one. It was and still is awesome! They had another that was Time Square when the ball was dropping ushering in the new year. It was a brief glimpse of his tail, I think. They really had me fired up for the film. I still like it a lot but what could have been....

A new image of Godzilla from the upcoming film Godzilla vs. Kong appears to have been released online. The image was reportedly taken at Toy Fair, which starts later this week in New York City. Considering the presence of this image, there seems to be a good probably that new Godzilla vs. Kong merchandise will be displayed at the event.

Maybe it's Mechagodzilla in disguise.

It looks like concept art, which is often quite different from what's seen in the movie. Remember Gigan in the gathering of the Titans in KotM?

It could just be pre-production concept art or Mechagodzilla in disguise. It proves absolutely nothing.

Yeah, it's a cool promo art piece. Not sure it's out to prove anything

Kind of sad that Funko got merch rights instead of NECA this time.

I saw this the weekend it premiered in the theater! I was 10, and my aunt dropped me off to go see Mars Attacks! all alone opening night! I have been a massive Godzilla fan from a young age, and I FLIPPED at the trailer!

...but then I saw the movie :/

Actually Playmates are doing the figures that NECA normally would do.

Toho have no choice: as long as Legendary make their films in the agreed timeframe to avoid competing with Toho their deal gives them the option to continue making films as long as they want. The only issue is that after GKotM flopped they'll be unlikely to want to continue if GvK flops as well: Legendary's box-office track record over the past five years has not been good, and with owners Dalian Wanda Group slimming down to reduce their debt, they need a big hit.

Playmates is doing the children's toyline, like Jakk's Pacific did for KOTM and Bandai with G14. NECA did adult collectibles that fell under the collectible novelty license, which Funko got for GvK this time. Same thing happened with Kong: Skull Island, though apparently NECA let Funko have that one because their Planet of the Apes figures were poor sellers. Funko only made one product for K:SI.

Hmm. He's either firing at Kong who is climbing a building, or
[Show spoiler]Mecha hovering.
