I forgot about Amityville 3-D. It comes in a boxed set instead of a standalone package.

I received it standalone in 3D zone free in English audio from Amazon Spain.

I thought I read that Code Red originally had the rights to it but was discouraged from putting it out because they definitely would have released it flat.
I think they are doing Silent Madness.

Black Lolita (aka Wildcat Women) received an anaglyph DVD release years ago, and a couple of clips are on YouTube. And either my anaglyph glasses are the wrong tint or the anaglyph 3D leaves a bit to be desired. That said, this would be a Day 1 purchase for me for the car-chase scene alone; has to be seen to be believed.

I hope Treasure of the Four Crowns is one of the silver age surprises Bob F
is hinting at. That's the movie that had me sold on 3-D. My dad took my older
brother and I to see it when I was 9 years old. I was literally ducking to avoid
arrows flying off the screen.

There are rumors that Vinegar Syndrome is getting involved too. I'm guessing it's a 70's softcore title.

The setbacks with Friday the 13th III, Spacehunter, and Starchaser are regrettable, but when only one third party label appears to be dedicated to releasing these films on 3-D Blu-Ray, this is what happens.
What are the chances that an Indicator in the UK or Umbrella in Australia could licence a title like Spacehunter or Starchaser? Both of those companies have previously licenced Sony titles so it would seem they have a connection on Spacehunter and if a tiny company "Fries" can licence Starchaser in the US, maybe the rights in another country are still out there. Has anyone ever sent an email inquiring?

I emailed Indicator awhile back about Spacehunter. They told me that they were interested in acquiring the title, and would try to do so in the next Sony negotiations. I'm not sure if they've done so or not.

The Fries Starchaser disc is region-free. Which makes me wonder if their license is worldwide. If so, then a foreign publisher may not be able to buy a license until the Fries license expires.

Anaglyph can leave a lot to be desired. Wrong tint? A hint. I keep in reserve 2 pairs. One is Magenta (Red/Blue) and Green, the other Red and Cyan (Blue/Green). 3D anaglyph DVDs can be either.

for anyone who can either cross-view or parallel-view 3D:

these are taken from a snippet of film found in the rubble of a demolished building. Lo-res filmstrip scans were posted to the I remember the Rock N Roll Hotel facebook group about a decade ago.

It looked like typical over/under 35mm 3D film, so I arranged these side by side just for the hell of it. It's not much to go by.

Came across this info on the Incredible Shrinking Woman trivia page on IMDB...

Robert Blalack's tests exist of Lily Tomlin in various scenes that were shot for the film in the 3D format, which was having a resurgence of interest in the US at the time. It was produced and released in 2D, however.

Also sort of interesting, John Landis was originally supposed to direct (Joel Schumacher took over). Even if the 3D fact isn't true, there is a tenuous link...the Gillman is featured as a kid's mask.

I really have to question this because TISW was released in January 81 and Comin At Ya wasn't released until July. There's another link, Rick Baker's gorilla character flips the bird just like A*P*E!

oops old news....https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=106

I had those tests on VHS in the field sequential 3D method. Very poor quality.

Thanks. What was the gist of them? Just Lily Tomlin standing in front of large objects? People say that Gulliver's Travels (conversion) was bad 3D but some scenes benefited from the 3D and contrast between Jack Black and the small world.

On another note, I wonder if it was Landis' idea to try 3D. After all he also wanted to do a 3D remake of Creature from the Black Lagoon in the 80s right?

It's not a priority but I would like to see the footage on a polarized blu-ray sometime in the future...(Rarities 3?)

It's too bad Landis never shot a film in 3D, he seems to have a lot of genuine enthusiasm for it. Landis apparently wanted to bring back Jack Arnold to direct, and 3D would've been essential. Might've been just the thing to give the 80s revival more staying power.

I'd love to see the Incredible Shrinking Woman 3D tests, I hope the footage turns up. I'm not surprised they abandoned the 3D plans, it would've been very complicated with the opticals and special effects involved. Although it might've been a good opportunity to take advantage of the miniturizing effects of hyper 3-D. Filming on oversized sets with an oversized interaxial should produce interesting results.

poor quality: the video quality? the tests themselves? the 3D?

I have seen some of the glasses-free 3-D and to be honest, none of them have impressed me. The depth is diminished and the limited sweet spot for viewing is annoying.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions.

For everyone else I found this online just now:
https://www.imdb.com/list/ls063066658/
It is a list of the 3D Silver Age movies. Don’t know how accurate it is. Maybe Mr. Furmanek can glance over and give us is two cents.
I can’t help but hope this new project is number 8. One of my childhood favorites.

I’m hesitant to start the guessing game, and frankly I hope you’re right, but take a look at the list you posted. Look at who’s credited beside ‘Alpha Productions’ for ‘The Starlet’

Also, is this list suggesting there are DCP’s for the Korean 3D films? I had no idea there were so many 3D Korean films from the 70’s. It seems to suggest a company called The Korean Film Archive may have them?
