The top one is fully digital and the bottom one is film (that has been digitized). IMO They're both ugly example images and I don't trust that the processing was done correctly on the film image to replicate the look of a film print, nevertheless the top one is even worse. The top one has a messed up grayscale with reddish tones, dull greens, exaggerated muddiness in the shadow areas and a strange haziness which makes it appear less sharp. |

I could be very wrong though, it's pretty interchangeable at the high-end of cameras. |

So not sure if this is appropriate place to ask but looking for some advice. I bought the Joker 4K steelbook from Zavvi the other week and watched it for the first time tonight and throughout the entire film the audio was very weird, like audio pops, digital noise or something? Not really sure show to explain it but I tried the disc in another room and it worked perfectly fine. I assume that means there’s nothing wrong with the disc, is my player dodgy?

Top one is Arri Alexa with Yedlin's film emulation, and bottom is film. Gallery #7: in this link: http://yedlin.net/OnColorScience/index.html Yedlin actually goes into great detail in that link explaining how the camera doesn't have to determine whether something looks like film or like digital. With the proper preparation, you can make something shot digitally look like film with imperceptible differences to the real thing. |

Bizarre. Why would they press a different BD with lesser audio for specific markets? This studio is the king of one-size-fits-all.
