The only movie in that list that has potential “Mass appeal” beyond the niche 3D enthusiasts is the Nightmare on Elm Street movie, Final Nightmare.
As someone who has a relatively satisfactory version of Friday the 13th 3 3D already, the 1991 Nightmare in 3D would be a perfect bookend. PS looks like my other prediction of Rise of Skywalker 3D being released prior to Shogun 3D is all but confirmed. Hopefully this new Nightmare will make me 2 for 2. ![]() |

Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare is owned by Warner Bros./New Line Cinema, and it's already been released on 2-D blu-ray as part of a box set. So far, Warners hasn't been very friendly to 3rd party publishers. With Shout Factory and Criterion, they pretty much take the MPI created digital masters as-is and use it for their blu-ray releases.

I don't think there's any chance it's Freddy's Dead... Just speaking for myself, but if Revenge of the Shogun Women was pushed back so they could do 13 minutes of mediocre 3D, I might riot. And I like Freddy's Dead fine but on the list of stuff that needs proper 3D restorations, this is somewhere near the very bottom. I also doubt there's any mass appeal there. It's one of the least liked Elm Street sequels in general and anyone that wants a 2D version already has it along with the rest of the series for the price of the average 3D blu ray.
Even putting my own hopes for it aside, I think Silent Madness has the most appeal outside of the 3D buyers. The 80's slasher fans are a pretty reliable market. |

It's not Silent Madness. Somebody else has that one locked up and I don't know what plans they currently have. It looks like we will not be involved with its restoration.

Honestly, its baffling why anyone would release vintage 3D without the 3-D Archive's help. What do they think they're doing?

I don't see anyone else releasing vintage 3D at all any more, the UK release of The Mad Magician I suppose gives us hope but all the work on that one was done years ago. We almost got I, The Jury but after that went nowhere, nothing. Why licensors/owners just sit on all these titles, I just don't understand... still, I'll buy any Silver Age release no questions asked.

Still plenty of other great silver titles to choose from, so I'll be looking forward to the eventual mystery title release - whatever it may be. |

88 Films in April 2015 on Facebook said Simon Nuchtern reported all of Silent Madness' original negatives and prints were destroyed when the company that held his film went out of business. Subsequently, they were looking for 35mm 3D prints to connect to Nuchtern in his efforts to preserve the film. Flash forward, September 2018, Vinegar Syndrome representative gives hopeful comment, regarding Silent Madness on Blu-ray.com forum. March 2019, supposedly, Vinegar Syndrome was hinting on Facebook about working on a 3D title. Nothing since. They've undoubtedly encountered some challenges and setbacks. Maybe they've given up. Maybe they haven't. |

There's also various films from South Korea, China, Japan, and Russia but I don't really expect those to ever be worked out. Tell me you wouldn't love to see Lady in Dream by Im Kwon-taek though! Last edited by BleedOrange11; 02-26-2020 at 09:15 PM. |

![]() ![]() Indicator announced that they're working on this today but haven't released details. Wondering if we'll get lucky and get a 3D Blu-Ray inside as they just did Mad Magician. |

![]() Edit: It seems there is no chance. Apparently The 3D doesn’t even exist. It was abandoned early on so I read. Last edited by Steedeel; 04-02-2020 at 09:14 PM. |
